"The Possible Mediums conference is composed of a series of workshops and panel discussions revolving around four “possible mediums.” Challenging the boundaries of architectural convention, the invited workshop leaders employ exploratory processes rooted in mediums external to the discipline (such as film or comics) or developed from atypical applications of more conventional mediums (such as drawings or models). The technical sophistication and inventive applications of their work reflect two major developments within speculative architecture of the past decade: a broad diffusion of technological expertise and a shift from critical to projective theory. Preserving commitment to expertise and imagination, Possible Mediums places this group of designers in productive dialog, unpacking their collective foundations and futures."

PUBLIC: Present Predicaments in Architecture and Urban Planning
PUBLIC is the third installment of a series of conferences exploring present predicaments in architecture and urban planning. This conference focued on the relationships between planning, architecture, and the public while exploring the social impact of designs and decisions. Questions to be considered included: What role should public space play? What is the public definition of beauty? What forces enable planning and architecture to redefine culture and serve as a catalyst for change?
A diverse group of experts who actively shape the public opinion of architecture and planning responded through informal discussion to a series of four "provocations." These free-ranging conversations underscored the complexities and contradictions inherent in each provocation as well as suggest potential solutions to such predicaments. Open discussion at the end of the afternoon encouraged the audience to take part in the conversations.

Chile, the current Presidency of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, or Ottawa Convention, is marking seventeen years of treaty successes, and calling on all parties to redouble their efforts in one "Last Stretch" to meet the Convention's humanitarian goals to the fullest extent possible by 2025.
In 2014 the States Parties reaffirmed their commitment to ending the era of anti-personnel mines once and for all, and aspiring to meet these goals to the fullest extent possible by 2025.
To achieve these aims, the Convention’s Presidency will be hosting the First Pledging Conference for Implementation of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, at the highest level possible on Wednesday, 2 March from 15:00-18:00 in Room XXV, UN Geneva.
