Many conclude that the gender gap is closing and that differences within gender groups are more significant than the differences between them. Ethnicity, race, disability, and economic differences are a more striking indicator of inequality than gender. However, the gender gap still exists with boys continuing to lag in communication and language arts and girls failing to participate equally in math, science and engineering. Educators need to begin at elementary school level and to be aware that equity issues in education mean a whole lot more than having an equal number of boys and girls in the classroom.

"Nasty Idol" is an annual gathering of friends (at the Nast household) whose admittance ticket is a live performance. Winners and losers are chosen by vote. Sorry, no phone-ins.
Concluding services at the Naalehu Cemetery for Mathan David. Many people have arrived and have parked their vehicles around the grave. Many of them will sit inside their vehicles to observe the most solemn rite in the human family. It provides me with the opportunity to take photos of graves of people I knew on Ujelang Atoll. Some have their photo taken around a photo I took of Mathan on Ujelang in the mid-70s.
I asked if it was OK to take photos, and was encouraged to do so - for remembering purposes. I tried to be respectful at all times of event and the mourners present.

‘The Political Reporter’ is a new media installation by Boone, NC-based artist Mark Nystrom that generates random, but intriguing statements with words found on political websites and in the media. Sources include the Obama and Romney presidential campaigns, the Democratic and Republican parties, bloggers and the news media.
‘The Political Reporter’ animates a cloud of letters and periodically makes statements. These images are screen grabs taken while ‘The Political Reporter’ was running on Election Day and the day after.
Letters from words gathered from conservative sources are colored red and ones from liberal sources are blue. ‘The Political Reporter’s’ vocabulary includes over 70,000 words, but only 300 appear on the screen at any given time. As words are used to make statements, they are replaced by randomly chosen new ones from the list of 70,000.
