Cameron has a long history on Queen West and many of today's top musicians started their career there. The outside has always interesting mural and the ants, despite their creepiness have certain draw. The building is from 1880 (build for Angus Cameron dry goods store) It became a hotel in 1920's and in the 1980's the street level morphed into entertainment venue. Some of the performers lived upstairs at one time or other. Cameron was one of the first venues which launched Queen West edginess. I rarely frequent this place. Somehow, I do not feel that I fit.

This mural is from John Abrams (2012) . It depicts a scene from Hitchcock movie Vertigo (Kim Novak). It was replaced by another Abrams murals few years later. Abrams has painted every mural on this wall since 1984.

On a beautiful warm Wednesday evening I cycled over to the Millennium dome as I still like to call it or present title the 02 arena on Greenwich peninsula along the Thames river path from Woolwich.

The largest concert venue in the UK was certainly different & quieter to the last time I was here for obvious reasons!

It has never been my favourite London music venue as I prefer the sound, exciting atmosphere & slope of Brixton academy. The perfect size, funny memories & acoustics of London forum & the beautiful intimacy of Union chapel.

But it holds a special place in my heart as it reminds me of my dear departed mum who visited here with her friends when it opened back in 2000 & I remember her so happy about telling me what a fantastic day she had, showing me photos & momentos she had bought....Joyful memories :0)

I took a moment to review photos taken in 2020, during the Covid year, and edited a few tonight. One picture is of Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska. To confirm, yes, this venue survived.

Baluarte de la Candelaria is a fortress built in 1672 as part of the Cádiz sea wall. It was a protector of the city, but now this fortification is dedicated to cultural activities of all kinds from concerts, to workshops, art exhibitions, and Carnival, just to name a few. The views of the ocean from its walls are spectacular.

Last night, my media outlet, Go Venue Magazine, covered a fantastic show featuring Jerry Cantrell, the legendary guitarist of Alice in Chains, at The Astro in La Vista, Nebraska. It was an exciting concert to attend.

The image captures a vibrant scene on East Wall Road in Dublin, where a Dublin Bus on route N4 is stationed at a bus stop, en route to its terminus at Point Village in Dublin 1. The N4 is one of Dublin's orbital bus routes, designed to connect suburban areas and key locations around the city without necessarily passing through the central hub of Dublin. Orbital routes like the N4 play a crucial role in the city's public transport network, offering residents an efficient way to travel between neighborhoods, commercial districts, and transport hubs, such as the Point Village, a bustling area known for its shopping, entertainment, and proximity to the River Liffey.

The N4 route specifically links Blanchardstown in the west to Point Village in the east, passing through areas like Finglas, Phibsborough, and the North Wall. It operates with a frequency that caters to both commuters and casual travelers, typically running every 15 to 20 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes during off-peak times, including evenings and weekends. This consistent schedule makes the N4 a reliable option for those traveling across Dublin’s northern suburbs or heading to the Point Village, which is home to the 3Arena, a popular venue for concerts and events, as well as various shops and offices.

The bus stop design in the photo is noteworthy for its modern infrastructure, reflecting Dublin's efforts to integrate public transport with cycling amenities. The stop at East Wall Road features a layout where the bicycle lane runs behind the bus stop, creating a small island for passengers. This design enhances safety by separating cyclists from bus traffic, allowing bikes to pass without interference while passengers board or alight. The bus stop itself, marked by a clear sign indicating route 7833, is equipped with a shelter and timetable information, providing a comfortable waiting area. This innovative setup is part of Dublin's broader push to promote sustainable transport, ensuring that both cyclists and bus users can navigate the city safely and efficiently. The surrounding area, with its mix of modern buildings and tree-lined streets, adds to the urban charm of this well-connected part of Dublin.

Once a cinema and fondly remembered concert venue, Union Street, now a gross high rise office block out of scale, out of architectural aesthetics, you name it, to it’s surroundings. So out of scale, British Airways Silver Fin pension fund had to build a similar gaff next door to keep it company. Only exterior detail left is the beautiful art-deco doors seen here. It would appear the Compton cinema organ, survived an in between times makeover as a night club, when it was removed for storage and further use, but current status is unknown (TBC).

19/05/2016; They sure have some nice modern architecture in Newcastle upon Tyne. The Millennium Bridge obviously, but also The Sage is a cool modern piece.

Large Sage

I was driving home last night after having a nice curry with my mum in Seaham and the light reflecting from the top of the sage was enough to make me park up and take a quick look though the lens.

I just really like the contrast between the silver architecture of the sage and the warm tones in the sunset.

I am thinking I will go back on a windy night when there are some clouds around to get a long exposure version of the same comp.

Sage Gateshead is a concert venue and also a centre for musical education, located in Gateshead on the south bank of the River Tyne, in the North East of England.

Lower Mosley St, Manchester

Taken from the Bridgwater Basin off the Rochdale Canal that runs south of the concert hall. While researching something to write about this image I came across this article... Bridgewater Basin Floating Ecosystems.

What's happening in the Basin?

Working in partnership Manchester City Council and Clean City Fund, along with Cityco, Bridgewater Hall, Petersfield Group and the Canal and River Trust, Internationally renowned Aquatic scientists Biomatrix are creating a network of floating active ecosystems to help improve the biodiversity and water quality of the Basin.

Why do it?

We want to increase the quality and functionality of both our green spaces (parks, gardens etc) and our blue spaces (rivers, canals and water bodies). At the moment the basin lacks a little interest, and this project aims to breathe new life into the water body, improving the aesthetic, creating a haven for wildlife.

What do they do?

They will be lovely to look at, but that’s not all. Many of the plants will provide a valuable food source for bees and other insects, which in turn will feed birds and bats. Underwater, there's even more going on. One of the problems along the canal is the lack of cover for fish and invertebrates. Using clever " dynamic media", nylon strands will be fixed to the underside of each island, creating a swaying mass of artificial "roots" perfect for fish to hide in and spawn against. These "roots" also encourage bacteria colonisation which helps improve water quality and reduce pollution.

What happens if the water levels rise or fall?

That’s the interesting bit.. The islands " float" but are attached to risers so they can, quite literally, go with the flow. They will rise and fall with any change in water levels.

How long will they be there?

For a long time, hopefully! Biomatrix Floating Active Ecosystems are constructed with durable materials, which will last for at least twenty years. Its a bit like planting a raised bed in your garden, once the plants are established, with just a little tlc they will hopefully take care of themselves.

How were the plants chosen?

Expert advice from Designers BDP and the National Trust's Head Gardener at Dunham Massey have come up with a stunning selection of useful and beautiful plants, both native and non native, that have a little bit of musicality to their selection. This is based on the interesting concept of Synethesia , in which sounds can evoke thoughts of colour. Based on this we have identified plant species and composition to help evoke the sense of spectacle that would come with a musical composition - perfect for the Bridgewater Hall location.

When will they flower?

There will be staggered flowering times to keep year round interest and be great for pollinators, but will take a year or so until they are fully established.

Who will maintain them?

The planting is designed to be very low maintenance, with limited cutting back to be undertaken by volunteers.

I was wondering how many of you guys outside the UK have heard of this place? The Royal Albert Hall sits on the northern edge of South Kensington, London, and is probably best known for holding the Proms concerts annually each summer since 1941.

Since its opening by Queen Victoria in 1871, the world's leading artists from many performance genres have appeared on its stage and it has become one of the UK's most treasured and distinctive buildings. Each year it hosts more than 390 shows in the main auditorium, including classical, rock and pop concerts, ballet, opera, film screenings with live orchestra, sports, award ceremonies, school and community events, charity performances and banquets. It has a capacity of up to 5,272 seats. The Hall is a registered charity held in trust for the nation and receives no public or government funding.

The place was heaving with revellers last weekend, (13 Dec), all eager to participate in the annual Christmas carol sing-along. Nothing gets you in the mood for Christmas like a carol concert especially when there's a full choir and orchestra to hand. Mix that with the spectacular setting of the RAH and you're guaranteed huge helpings of Christmas spirit. We've been a few times now and knew the form. Battery powered Christmas lights, mince pies, reindeer antler headbands and of course you have to join in with the singing.

A pedicab biking down N 7th Street in front of First Avenue on a busy Thursday night in downtown Minneapolis.

This is front of The Electric Factory in Philadelphia. It is an awesome place for concerts due to the size of the venue.

Morning light illuminates the foyer of the more recent addition to what was formally the Colston hall, now renamed the Bristol Beacon. On the stairs bear the names of some of the acts who have appeared there over the years. Since my first gig there at age 13 I've witnessed 100's of concerts at the venue. Some really incredible legends and some who were fine bands and performers who perhaps never made it to the 'big time' but nonetheless were great in their own right. it will be good to visit again once the renovating has been completed.

Crowds gather outside of First Avenue in downtown Minneapolis on the evening of Prince's death.

The Auditorium Rainier III is a modern theater venue for live plays, music concerts including classical orchestra performances, conferences, talks and other live events. It was built over the Mediterranean ocean so is relatively low from the surrounding buildings so what you are looking at is its colorful roof with views of the port and sea.
