Concept: I feel that the defamiliarization fits best into this category with the juxtaposition of the moon and the lamp rather than visual, affect or being there.

Defamiliarization - Originally this was a lamp which I replaced the lightbulb with the moon to with some albedo and a bit of brush effects. I decided that it looked too plain so I added a surface blur to the centre of the lamp and a rotational blur to the outside to give it some more interesting shape.

This is a conceptual image. For this photo I wanted to start right back at the basics of art concepts, from composition, contrast, shapes, texture, and colour. Many of these apply directly to photography so this image worked well. It is simplistic and extreme at the same time. The circle is clear, simple and placed directly in the centre of the image. The lighting has a very extreme contrast. The roof shows off texture well. Although this image was shot in colour the effectiveness of the other elements is better shown in black and white. Which says something about the overall composition. I put this image on my computer and was very happy with how it turned out to show all the things I wanted, and then as I was looking at it I realized it looks like an eye ball.

Product designers often use 3D concept models to articulate their design proposals. We have a range to share here that use a range of media to communicate these ideas. Students use these photos to supplement their folios that are submitted to SQA.
This was my original concept for the strobist.com transportation bootcamp assignment. I only have one flash and quickly learned that this just wasn't going to cut it. I eventually took a more conventional shot which I entered.
The question is, can anybody come up with a way I could have made something like this work with only one flash? The idea was to show off the blue transluscent wheels and to also get the triangular shadows on the ground.
