Sometimes herons just stand there, waiting for food to swim y right where they want it...

When I spotted this guy he was fishing, but after I started waiting for him to catch another fish, he just stood there waiting, at one time taking three small steps to a presumably better location, then more waiting. Impressive concentration and patience!

Another shot of a baby Rocky Mountain Goat practicing his climbing skills on Mt Evans from our trip last July.

I'm looking forward to watching these guys jumping around on the rocks again this coming summer.

A stunning red phase Lowland Copperhead Snake (Austrelaps superbus).

Taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark 3 DSLR coupled to a vintage Medium Format Mamiya 645 Sekor C 110mm 1:2.8 N lens. A third party M645 to EOS adapter and 31mm EF extension tube incorporated. Shot hand-held @ 2.8 with a little diffused flash. Extremely sharp wide-open with superb bokeh and colour rendering IMO.

about the steps thats the top of the stairs and any higher you will see the temple any lower you will see the tar road - none of which will have looked as good.

- if im not mistaken there was a pole just next to him and the funny thing is he walked the opposite direction after coming down

There are 2 diverse experiences you can get from visiting Batu Caves. One is the excitement and the sounds of Thaipusam and next is the serenity of the place on any given day which is not a festival day.

The thing I love most about the caves is the lighting, it is nearly magical especially on the stairs that leads to the top most shrine. We were there last Saturday and we spent hours just sitting at the top shrine watching the play of lights, the devotees and the tourists and of course the lovable monkeys.

The emotion series takes a break coz I haven’t had time to shoot the rest!

Batu Caves is a limestone hill in the Gombak district, north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which has a series of caves and cave temples. Batu Caves is said to have been discovered by K. Thamboosamy an Indian trader in the 1800s. The first cave temple was established in 1891, and wooden steps up to the Temple Cave were built in 1920. Of the various cave temples that comprise the site, the largest and best known is the Temple or Cathedral Cave, so named because it houses several Hindu shrines beneath its 100 m vaulted ceiling.

OK… So I finally got around to trying this. Here is my first attempt at steel wool spinning. This is from just an hour ago.

So here ya go Jill. The competition is on. I want to wish a happy Canada Day to her, and all my other Canadian friends. This seems like an appropriate independence day kind of a shot. Better than the fireworks shots I got last night.

This was actually more of a pain in the ass than I expected. First off, it was windy, so I was having a bitch of a time lighting the steel wool. Then the really difficult part was trying to hit the shutter button on my remote trigger while spinning the thing. Most of my concentration was focused on NOT dropping the remote trigger because I was on a bridge over water. I know from all my years of boating that if you drop anything on a dock, no matter how far you are from the edge you may be, it WILL bounce into the water, with 100% certainty! The most valuable tool we always had around our boats was a big magnet on a string. We'd drop that in the water and usually pull up a tool we lost about ten years ago.
