I am amazed that I was able to Mt Rainier on such a clear day. The peak is often concealed by the clouds.
Are we ever true to ourselves? Do we ever do exactly what it is we want to do? Do we ever look the way that we really want to look? Do we ever reveal, behave and act like the person whom we wish to be, whom we know is the real us? Or do we simply live for the expectations of others? Are we all liars, concealing ourselves? Do we all say we like, or do not like certain things because we know that others like, or do not like them? Do we sometimes act in a different manner to which we would usually, depending upon the company we are keeping? Are we all simply great illusionists, so much so that sometimes we even find it hard to identify which half of our identity is the truer half - the one we project, or the one that we are? It would seem that the battle in which we have to fight is between who it is we are and who it is we pretend to be for others. Is this battle ever winnable, or are we all enigmatic...even to ourselves?

About
Photo taken during the recent meetup at Shorncliffe, Queensland. The clouds were not that fabulous but when I headed towards the end of the pier I spotted this beauty concealed from the surrounding trees.
See my set for more.
History
Shorncliffe pier is situated in the suburb of Shorncliffe, Australia near Saint Patrick’s college and lower Moora Park. This pier with its white faded timber railings, colonial street lamps spaced out along the stretch of pier, and resting shelter towards the end of the long pier is an iconic feature of Shorncliffe and a much visited attraction for families, residents and tourists to the area.
During the early history of Shorncliffe and its neighboring bayside suburb Sandgate, both were beachside suburbs visited by Brisbane residents for day trips and holidays. In the late 1800s there was enough activity in the area to erect a pier thus beginning the construction of the Shorncliffe pier. In 1865 a company was formed to construct the pier and 7 years later the pier was finished in 1872.
The pier now still stands reaching out into the bay over a century later. An iconic feature of the area, the pier is the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race in April and is an element in many photographs and pieces of art circulating Brisbane art galleries. With views of Redcliffe peninsula, the Boondall Wetlands, Moreton Bay Islands and the Shorncliffe cliffs, this iconic pier is a feature in the nautical landscape of this northside Brisbane suburb.

The more I shoot these domes, the more personified they become. I'm sure this one was plotting something. Check out the series so far and stay tuned for more this week.

This young bull was hiding out behind the trees, standing very still like no one could see him. I managed to position myself in just the right spot to capture his eye through the branches and did have the good fortune to photograph him out in the open several other times during our adventures in Denali.
Have a fabulous weekend....and go Cardinals!!!!!! As always, I appreciate all your visits and comments :-)
I guess with Chicago Botanical Gardens having their orchid extravaganza this month, the Garfield Park Conservatory brought on its own effort. Here are some shots of the various beauties within the conservatory using some vintage lenses. This batch of orchids were placed behind some larger plants, their stark beauty was not easily contained by its neighboring foliage!
