HISTORY
Pillar completed 28th April 1949 costing £21.5s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SD96/T43 in 1951. Levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in November 1952. Last maintained by the OS in May 1976.
SITE VISIT
Approached from north. Parked by south side of Tinklers Lane beside RoW at SD748528. Followed mapped RoW southwards to where routes cross, turning WSW to top. Pillar in good condition. Replacement plastic top cap fitted into spider by Jon Rouse, 20/02/2000. Flush bracket faces west, ~279°. Vented through east and south sight holes. Full 360° panoramic view includes Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent, Pendle Hill and Longridge Fell.
