It's amazing to think that a modern Smartphone, which is really a hand-held computer, has almost infinitely more computing power than was available to the Allies during WW2 at Bletchley Park

We had a very successful first ever Retro Computing Night at BuildBrighton. This was a four way Micro Machines session, later on it went to eight way. It will definitely be happening again.

The Faces of Summit series shares stories of people working to stand up America’s next top supercomputer for open science, the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility’s Summit. The next-generation machine is scheduled to come online in 2018.
OLCF high-performance computing systems engineer Scott Atchley leads efforts to deploy Summit’s burst buffer, a reliable, high-speed storage layer that sits between the machine’s computing and file systems. Atchley’s track record for using technology to bolster productivity dates back to the early days of his career as a sales and marketing professional in his family’s boat manufacturing business. This is a Voltaire 4700 Quad Data Rate InfiniBand switch. It is the core network switch for my new cluster at work. The orange cables are fiber. There are 260 of them connected to this switch, with a total length of 1.5 miles.
The switch ports are 40 Gigabits per second (40 billion bits per second). The switch backplane is capable of 51.8 Terabits per second (51.8 trillions bits per second).
The cables sort of reminded me of a bushy moustache. Bonus points to anyone who knows where the title came from.
