Here is my latest marble machine. It is called Mr. Marbles because the bowtie reminds me of Mr. Peanut. This machine is made from Maple, Cherry, and Zebrawood for the bowtie, however each one I make will have a different species of wood for the bowtie to give them each a bit of uniqueness. Every part has been made by hand, no cnc milling or computerized design was used.

Jaguara was a village built in the early 70s, which was occupied by engineers, mechanics and operators of the Jaguara Hydroelectric Plant, belonging to the Power Complex of Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig), Brazil. The village, in military style from the late 60's, was operated with the joint administration of their 140 families and a representative of the company, usually the chief engineer. Here had primary school, fire brigade, two banking office, a market, butcher shop, video store, post office, a temple of the Catholic Church in pyramid shape, two soccer fields, a sports club and a huge social hall, airport, 24 hours clinic, dentist, a hotel on the edge of river, forest with serpentarium ... Finally, a village with everything needed to operate with self-sufficiency.
Around the beginning of the 90s the company Cemig computerized, interconnected and centralized its entire operation based in the city of Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais. After a retirement program and relocation of skilled manpower to other bases or nearby cities in 4 years it has become a small ghost town. A few years ago the company sold the villa to the private sector of tourism and all former residents - myself included - still hope one day to see our old home restored and social life again.

Haviam escola primária, brigada de incêndio, duas agência bancárias, um mercado, açougue, locadora de vídeo, agência dos Correios, um templo da Igreja Católica em formato de pirâmide, dois campos de futebol, um clube esportivo e um salão social enorme, aeroporto, ambulatório 24 horas, dentista, um hotel na beira da rio, horto florestal com serpentarium... enfim, uma vila com tudo necessário para operar com autosuficiência.
Aproximadamente no início da década de 90 a companhia CEMIG informatizou, interligou e centralizou toda a operação em sua base na cidade de Belo Horizonte, capital de Minas Gerais. Após um programa de aposentadoria e relocação de mão-de-obra para outras bases ou cidades próximas, em 4 anos ela se tornou uma pequena cidade fantasma. Há poucos anos a companhia vendeu a vila para o setor privado do turismo e todos os antigos moradores - eu incluído - esperam um dia ainda ver nosso antigo lar restaurado e com vida social novamente.

Times Square, New York City, New Years Eve Ball Drop, 2012 - 2013
The Times Square Ball is a time ball located atop the One Times Square building in New York City, primarily utilized as part of New Year's Eve celebrations held in Times Square. Yearly at 11:59 p.m. EST on December 31, the ball is lowered 77 feet (23 m) down a specially designed flagpole, resting on the midnight to signal the start of the new year. The first ball drop in Times Square took place on December 31, 1907, and has been held annually since (except in 1942 and 1943 in observance of wartime blackouts). The ball's design has also been updated over the years to reflect new advances in technologies—its original design utilized 100 incandescent light bulbs, iron, and wood in its construction, while its current incarnation features a computerized LED lighting system and an outer surface consisting of triangle-shaped crystal panels. As of 2009, the ball is also displayed atop One Times Square year-round and is removed only for general maintenance.
The Times Square ball drop is one of the best-known New Year's celebrations internationally, attended by at least one million spectators yearly, with an estimated global audience of at least 1 billion. The prevalence of the Times Square ball drop has also inspired other similar "drops" held locally in other cities and towns around the world.

The steam clock cost double and took two years longer to build than initial estimates. After the unveiling of the clock, it continued to face many problems such as its deafening noise, vandalism, car crashes, off-key chimes, and its inability to keep accurate time. Ultimately the back-up electric motor became the clock’s main driving force and a computerized tune-keeper was added, but these modifications do not seem to have diminished its status as a Gastown icon.

Someone I worked with who was an A&P veteran gave me some of these old A&P IBM order cards, they were from A&P's first computerized ordering system begun around 1970. He couldn't remember how they filled them out but that each page in an order book corresponded to a card and the completed cards were sent to a processing center. He said store 59 was either Westfield Ave. Moorestown or the first Marlton A&P.

The Pulse Front is a light "show" held at the Toronto Harbourfront Center for a limited time. Originally displayed as part of the Illuminato festival, it has been extended, probably by the same length as the cabaret show.
Consisting of a number of computerized flood lights that tear through the night sky, it revolves around a set program eventually at one point crossing paths in the center. Quite an interesting piece of work.
This is a rare tumor. The feature that makes it rare is its localization on the surface of a bone. It can invade the cortex and even medulla. Histology is similar to conventional osteosarcoma, which involves the medulla of the bone. This example was entirely osteoblastic on the biopsy samples. The treatment options are the same since this lesion behaves the same as the conventional one.

A wrecking yard (Australian, New Zealand, and Canadian English), scrapyard (Irish and British English) or junkyard (American English) is the location of a business in dismantling where wrecked or decommissioned vehicles are brought, their usable parts are sold for use in operating vehicles, while the unusable metal parts, known as scrap metal parts, are sold to metal-recycling companies.
Other terms include wreck yard, wrecker's yard, salvage yard, breakers yard, dismantler and scrapheap. In the United Kingdom, car salvage yards are known as car breakers, while motorcycle salvage yards are known as bike breakers. In Australia, they are often referred to as 'Wreckers'.
The most common type of wreck yards are automobile wreck yards, but junkyards for motorcycles, bicycles, small airplanes and boats exist too.
Many salvage yards operate on a local level—when an automobile is severely damaged, has malfunctioned beyond repair, or not worth the repair, the owner may sell it to a junkyard; in some cases—as when the car has become disabled in a place where derelict cars are not allowed to be left—the car owner will pay the wrecker to haul the car away.
Salvage yards also buy most of the wrecked, derelict and abandoned vehicles that are sold at auction from police impound storage lots,and often buy vehicles from insurance tow yards as well.
The salvage yard will usually tow the vehicle from the location of its purchase to the yard, but occasionally vehicles are driven in. At the salvage yard the automobiles are typically arranged in rows, often stacked on top of one another.
Some yards keep inventories in their offices, as to the usable parts in each car, as well as the car's location in the yard. Many yards have computerized inventory systems. About 75% of any given vehicle can be recycled and used for other goods.
In recent years it is becoming increasingly common to use satellite part finder services to contact multiple salvage yards from a single source.
In the 20th century these were call centres that charged a premium rate for calls and compiled a facsimile that was sent to various salvage yards so they could respond directly if the part was in stock. Many of these are now Web-based with requests for parts being e-mailed instantly.

The Bosphorus Bridge, also called the First Bosphorus Bridge or simply the First Bridge is one of two suspension bridges spanning the Bosphorus strait in Istanbul, Turkey; thus connecting Europe and Asia (the other one is the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, which is called the Second Bosphorus Bridge.) The bridge is located between Ortaköy (on the European side) and Beylerbeyi (on the Asian side).
