Of the maybe 300+ films I saw this year, these are the best ones. Some of them were released last year and I’ve been a bit slow getting round to them. Some of them were released even longer ago. The criteria are – I watched them in 2014 and I liked them. That’s it.

Fran's dad passed his well loved computer chess set on us today. After a half hour of finding instructions, fiddling with the batteries and figuring ou how to move the pieces, I played. And lost horribly. The computer is a devious son of a biscuit eater and I'm gonna have the biggest grin on my face when I can finally yell (loudly) Check mate!
