Grieghallen er en konserthall i Bergen, med en rekke konsert- og bankettsaler og måler 3500m².
Griegsalen, med sine 1509 sitteplasser, er den største av disse. Det er til sammen 4468 sitteplasser i Grieghallen. Grieghallen ble ferdigstilt i 1978, og ble tegnet av den danske arkitekten Knud Munk. Konsertsalen er hjemmearena for Bergen filharmoniske orkester. Under Grieghallen er det et parkeringsanlegg med 420 parkeringsplasser.

The Grieg Hall (Norwegian: Grieghallen) is a 1,500 seat concert hall in Bergen, Norway. It has been the home of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra since the hall's completion in 1978. It hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986, and is the host of the annual Norwegian Brass Band Championship competition, which occurs in mid-winter. The hall is named after Bergen-born composer Edvard Grieg, who was music director of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra from 1880 until 1882. The Grieg Hall recording studio is also famous within the black metal community, as several of the most important Norwegian black metal albums were recorded there, with Pytten as sound technician.

La Grieghallen è una sala di concerti da 1,500 posti a Bergen, in Norvegia. È stata la sede dell'Orchestra filarmonica di Bergen fin dalla sua costruzione datata 1978. Dopo il “sold out” registrato lo scorso 23 ottobre al Tunnel Club di Milano, Mark Tremonti torna in Italia a febbraio fra i suoi fans...in una location più grande come i Magazzini Generali. È uno show al fulmicotone, imperdibile, pieno di rock ed energia! Il successo del suo album solista di debutto “All I Was” prosegue e sembra non fermarsi.
Mark Thomas Tremonti è un chitarrista statunitense degli Alter Bridge e dei Creed. Generalmente Mark è il compositore delle musiche dei suoi gruppi.
La sua band solista originariamente era costituita da Eric Friedman e Garrett Whitlock a fianco del bassista di Alter Bridge e Creed Brian Marshall. La band ha eseguito il suo primo concerto solista a Orlando, in Florida, il 17 luglio 2012.
Nel settembre 2012 Wolfgang Van Halen, figlio di Eddie Van Halen, ha sostituito Brian Marshall.

La cantante brasiliana Paula Morelenbaum e la SWR Big Band con il trombettista Joo Kraus nelle vesti di ospite speciale, saranno i protagonisti della serata inaugurale del festival con un SPECIAL EVENTS (e da non perdere) dedicato ai più celebri standard brasiliani.
Paula Morelenbaum è una cantante di successo nata a Rio de Janeiro. La sua carriera ha avuto un primo acuto con la partecipazione nella live band del cantante e compositore di bossanova Antonio Carlos Jobim, e in seguito nel Quarteto Jobim-Morelenbaum. Assieme al marito Jaques Morelenbaum e in collaborazione con il noto musicista e produttore discografico giapponese Ryuichi Sakamoto, ha dato vita al trio Morelenbaum2/Sakamoto. Data del 2009 la registrazione dell’album Bossarenova con la Big Band della Südwest Rundfunk, formazione tedesca di gran classe che ha appena ricevuto la sua quarta nomination ai Grammy Awards nella categoria “Best Large Jazz Ensemble” per l’album Fun Time. Ospite speciale della serata asconese, il trombettista e compositore Joo Kraus, uno degli esponenti di maggiore successo del nuovo e più innovativo jazz tedesco, balzato agli onori delle cronache con Tab Two, album a cavallo fra hip-hop e jazz. Il suo più recente lavoro, Sueño, si ispira alla musica di Cuba.
Brazilian singer Paula Morelenbaum and the German Grammy-nominated SWR Big Band featuring trumpeter Joo Kraus come together for a one-time SPECIAL EVENTS evening on the festival's opening night, during which they will play Brazilian standards. Born in Rio de Janeiro, for ten years Paula Morelenbaum was in the band that toured with bossa nova singer and songwriter Antonio Carlos Jobim and was also part of the Quarteto Jobim-Morelenbaum. Together with her husband Jaques Morelenbaum and with renowned Japanese musician, composer, and record producer Ryuichi Sakamoto they made up the trio Morelenbaum2/Sakamoto. In 2009 she recorded Bossarenova with the German Südwest Rundfunk Big Band, who just received its fourth Grammy nomination in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble category, this time for its album Fun Time, and with whom Morelenbaum will be performing in Ascona. The evening will feature as special guest trumpeter and composer Joo Kraus, one of the most successful exponents of innovative jazz in Germany, who gained special recognition with his hip-hop & jazz project Tab Two. His most recent album, Sueño, draws its inspiration from the music of Cuba.

Sassofonista, cantante, compositore e showman Ray Gelato è un artista affermato a livello mondiale. La sua carriera inizia nel 1982, con la partecipazione nei Chevalier Brothers, un gruppo che si impone in breve tempo come la punta di lancia del revival dello swing degli anni ’40 e ’50. Tournée internazionali e numerose incisioni caratterizzano l’ascesa della band. Nel 1988 Gelato rafforza il suo ruolo di bandleader e front man, dando vita a una propria formazione, la Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, che preannuncia la nascita, nel 1994, dell’attuale Ray Gelato’s Giants.
Popolare anche in Italia, Ray Gelato è un vero animale da palcoscenico. La sua presenza scenica e il suo leggendario senso dello spettacolo, assieme a un repertorio che prende ispirazione dalla musica di Louis Prima, fanno di lui un artista molto richiesto. Gelato ha calcato le scene più prestigiose (Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Umbria Jazz, Montreal, ecc), ha suonato per personaggi del calibro di Paul McCartney, la regina Elisabetta II, e si è esibito in apertura dei concerti di Robbie Williams in occasione della tournée del 2001. Ospite di numerosi programmi TV, ha avuto proprie canzoni incluse in colonne sonore di film (Enigma nel 2001, The Perfect Man nel 2005) ed ha ottenuto tre nomination al premio “Heart of Jazz Award” di BBC Radio 2. Gelato got his start in 1982 performing with The Chevalier Brothers, a group that began busking in London subway stations and led a 1940s and 50s swing revival that culminated in numerous records and world tours. In 1988 Gelato cemented his status as a band-leader and front man when he formed Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, a precursor to his current formation which started in 1994.
Ray Gelato’s Giants has performed at some of the largest venues and festivals in the world, including Carnegie Hall, The Royal Albert Hall in London, the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, and the Montreal Jazz Festival. Gelato’s legendary showmanship and stage presence also generated a number of unique opportunities to perform: at Bryan Adam’s 2001 birthday party and at Paul McCartney’s 2002 wedding; as the opening act for Robbie Williams in 2001; to Queen Elizabeth II at The Ritz Hotel London in 2002; multiple spots on ITV’s This Morning and BBC’s Top of the Pops 2; and featured songs in the movies Enigma (2001) and The Perfect Man (2005). Dotata di grande presenza scenica e di una voce potente dalle tinte black, la cantante, scoperta dal popolare talent show “Amici”, porterà al festival un esclusivo show dedicato al grande Burt Bacharach, pianista e compositore che ha fatto sognare il mondo con i suoi successi. Con la maturità e la gioia che solo una neo mamma sa avere, Karima torna quindi sulle scene con un omaggio al creatore di “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” e “I Say A Little Prayer”. Da notare che Karima si è esibita con Burt Bacharach al Festival di Sanremo nel 2009.

Slash, pseudonimo di Saul Hudson (Londra, 23 luglio 1965), è un chitarrista, compositore e produttore discografico anglo-statunitense, membro dei Guns N' Roses dal 1985 al 1996 e autore di riff di brani di successo quali November Rain, Paradise City, Sweet Child O' Mine, Welcome to the Jungle, You Could Be Mine. Il soprannome "Slash" gli fu affibiato da Seymour Cassel, padre di un suo amico d'infanzia. Si trova in 65ª posizione nella classifica dei 100 migliori chitarristi di tutti i tempi secondo la rivista Rolling Stone ed è annoverato fra le influenze primarie di Kenny Olson, Nashville Pussy, Hardliner, New American Shame, Jason Krause, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, ed altri ancora.
Myles Richard Kennedy (Boston, 27 novembre 1969) è un cantautore e chitarrista statunitense. Myles è conosciuto soprattutto per essere il cantante solista ed il chitarrista ritmico della band hard rock Alter Bridge, oltre che per essere la voce del gruppo di Slash durante il tour di quest'ultimo nel 2010.
I confini della musica per Sascia Pellegrini non esistono. Percussionista di formazione classica, pianista e compositore italiano, sperimenta generi e stili, trasformando materiali più convenzionali nei suoi accessori musicali e dando vita a paesaggi sonori contemporanei.
La sua performance a Hong Kong è stata interpretata dalla danza contemporanea di Xiao Chengyong, in uno spettacolo fluido che ha fusi tutti gli elementi in un unico dialogo.

Trombettista, cantante, compositore, arrangiatore e produttore, Till Brönner è oggi senza dubbio una delle star europee del jazz. Nato nel 1971 in Germania, ma cresciuto a Roma, Brönner segue sin da ragazzo le orme dei suoi idoli - Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie e Chet Baker. Generation of Jazz, il suo primo album da leader (con Ray Brown e Jeff Hamilton) catapulta un Brönner poco più che ventenne in vetta alla classifiche tedesche.
La conferma di questa consacrazione avviene poi con German Songs, terzo disco che riprende colonne sonore di vecchi film tedeschi, e poi via via con altri album come Rio, prodotto nel 2009 da Larry Klein e pubblicato alla prestigiosa Verve.
Tromba e voce alla Chet Baker, Till Brönner sa che fare musica significa comunicare, cercare un pubblico il più vasto possibile. Artista trasversale, che ha lavorato con musicisti tanto diversi come Dave Brubeck e Ray Brown, Snoop Dog e Carla Bruni, Till Brönner è già da alcuni anni il musicista jazz tedesco più venduto nella storia. Nel suo paese è conosciuto anche dal grande pubblico per le sue frequenti partecipazioni a show televisivi come “X Factor”. Nominato ai Grammy Award e vincitore di due Echo Awards, Brönner inaugurerà la 28. edizione di JazzAscona con due performance in programma giovedì 21 (Piazza Torre) e venerdì 22 giugno (galà ufficiale all’hotel Eden Roc). Trumpeter, singer, composer, arranger, and producer, Till Brönner is undoubtedly one of Europe's jazz stars. Born in Germany in 1971 and raised in Rome, Brönner followed, from early on, the steps of his idols - Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, and Chet Baker. In 1993 he cut his first album as a band leader, Generation of Jazz (with Ray Brown and Jeff Hamilton), which earned him the top of the German hit parades.

The Ljubljanski madrigalisti mixed chamber choir has been a prominent and successful choir since the very beginning, first led by Matjaž Šček, Walter lo Nigro and then by Andreja Martinjak. In 2010, the choir was taken over by Mateja Kališnik. Apart from its regular concerts, the choir has performed at several national events and has recorded eight albums. It won a Gold diploma and the prestigious Petr Ebn Award for the best performance of any composition by this Czech composer at the 20th International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music in Prague. The Ljubljanski madrigalisti choir has ambitious goals. Our wish is to bring new freshness and recognizable musicality into choral singing. We invite new singers to join us all the time; to be a member of the Ljubljanski madrigalisti choir does not only mean singing in a good vocal group, but also learning how to sing and last, but not least, socialising. Among several participations at different competitions, the last are: 2007- Maribor, Slovenia; 2008 – Maribor, 2nd place – runners-up in Maribor Grand Prix; 2010 – Prague, Chech Republic; 2012 – Miltenberg, Germany 1st prize and 2nd prize in Folk music. Mateja Kališnik took over Ljubljanski madrigalisti Chamber Choir in January 2010. She graduated cum laude in music pedagogy from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in November 2008. In the season 2007 and 2009 she was a member of the World Youth Choir, where she worked with many famous conductors.
Il coro misto Ljubljanski madrigalisti è stato un coro molto promettente e di successo fin dall'inizio, quando era diretto da Matjaž Šček, Walter lo Nigro e poi da Andreja Martinjak. Nel 2010 Mateja Kališnik è succeduta alla direzione del gruppo. Oltre all'attività regolare dei concerti, il coro si è esibito a numerosi eventi nazionali ed ha registrato otto album. Mateja Kališnik ha iniziato a dirigere il coro nel 2010. Si è diplomata cum laude in pedagogia della musica all'accademia di Lubjana nel 2008. Nelle stagioni 2007 – 2009 è stata una componente del coro giovanile mondiale dove è stata diretta da famosi musicisti.

Sassofonista, cantante, compositore e showman Ray Gelato è un artista affermato a livello mondiale. La sua carriera inizia nel 1982, con la partecipazione nei Chevalier Brothers, un gruppo che si impone in breve tempo come la punta di lancia del revival dello swing degli anni ’40 e ’50. Tournée internazionali e numerose incisioni caratterizzano l’ascesa della band. Nel 1988 Gelato rafforza il suo ruolo di bandleader e front man, dando vita a una propria formazione, la Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, che preannuncia la nascita, nel 1994, dell’attuale Ray Gelato’s Giants.
Popolare anche in Italia, Ray Gelato è un vero animale da palcoscenico. La sua presenza scenica e il suo leggendario senso dello spettacolo, assieme a un repertorio che prende ispirazione dalla musica di Louis Prima, fanno di lui un artista molto richiesto. Gelato ha calcato le scene più prestigiose (Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Umbria Jazz, Montreal, ecc), ha suonato per personaggi del calibro di Paul McCartney, la regina Elisabetta II, e si è esibito in apertura dei concerti di Robbie Williams in occasione della tournée del 2001. Ospite di numerosi programmi TV, ha avuto proprie canzoni incluse in colonne sonore di film (Enigma nel 2001, The Perfect Man nel 2005) ed ha ottenuto tre nomination al premio “Heart of Jazz Award” di BBC Radio 2. Curiosamente, è anche autore di un libro di cuicina Cookin’ With Ray.
Sarà per la prima volta al festival Ascona, protagonista di uno dei concerti più attesi, in programma il 25 giugno, in cui sarà dato ampio spazio alla muisica di Louis Prima, di cui ricorre quest’anno il centenario della nscita.
The London-born son of a U.S. airman, tenor saxophonist, vocalist, composer, chef, and consummate performer Ray Gelato has put together a 30 year career in music as diverse and interesting as his eclectic origins. Gelato got his start in 1982 performing with The Chevalier Brothers, a group that began busking in London subway stations and led a 1940s and 50s swing revival that culminated in numerous records and world tours. In 1988 Gelato cemented his status as a band-leader and front man when he formed Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, a precursor to his current formation which started in 1994.
Ray Gelato’s Giants has performed at some of the largest venues and festivals in the world, including Carnegie Hall, The Royal Albert Hall in London, the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, and the Montreal Jazz Festival. Gelato’s legendary showmanship and stage presence also generated a number of unique opportunities to perform: at Bryan Adam’s 2001 birthday party and at Paul McCartney’s 2002 wedding; as the opening act for Robbie Williams in 2001; to Queen Elizabeth II at The Ritz Hotel London in 2002; multiple spots on ITV’s This Morning and BBC’s Top of the Pops 2; and featured songs in the movies Enigma (2001) and The Perfect Man (2005). A special and inedited collaboration between young and renowned talents will light up and bring great intensity to the evening performances in Ascona. Just Another Band - emblematic band part of the Ascona Midnight Sessions with a special leader: the charismatic singer and bass player Roy Bennett - will be on stage with Karima, the talented Italo-Algerian singer, which got known to the public thanks to the Italian talent show âAmiciâ (Canale 5). Karima is definitely the most interesting female pop jazz artist of the Italian talent scouting scene, with her intense charisma and confident stage presence - gained after years of hard work - and nothing to envy the American stars for. Although very young (born in 1985) she already performed as opening act for artists such as Anastasia, Simply Red and Whitney Houston. She also took part to the Sanremo 2009 competition and was one of the stars of this yearâs well known television show âI migliori anniâ (RAI Uno). Furthermore, she collaborated with the US pianist and composer Burt Bacharach, which produced some of the tracks off her previous record and composed especially for her âJust Walk Awayâ; up to date the only Italian singer which has received this privilege. After the very moving concerts held in honour of maestro Bacharach last February at the Blue Note in Milan, the singer has continued to widen her horizon of artistic collaborations, always ready to let out her extraordinary potential as a singer which has âalways been in love with jazz and black musicâ. Nato nel 1971 in Germania, ma cresciuto a Roma, Brönner segue sin da ragazzo le orme dei suoi idoli - Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie e Chet Baker. Generation of Jazz, il suo primo album da leader (con Ray Brown e Jeff Hamilton) catapulta un Brönner poco più che ventenne in vetta alla classifiche tedesche.
La conferma di questa consacrazione avviene poi con German Songs, terzo disco che riprende colonne sonore di vecchi film tedeschi, e poi via via con altri album come Rio, prodotto nel 2009 da Larry Klein e pubblicato alla prestigiosa Verve.

Trumpeter, singer, composer, arranger, and producer, Till Brönner is undoubtedly one of Europe's jazz stars. Born in Germany in 1971 and raised in Rome, Brönner followed, from early on, the steps of his idols - Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, and Chet Baker. FIRST TIME IN ASCONA!
Nato a Münsterlingen, nel Canton Turgovia, nel 1972, Dani Felber è un giovane e promettente direttore d’orchestra, compositore e flicornista. Diplomatosi alla Hochschule für Musik di Bern nel 2001, ha fondato nello stesso anno la Dani Felber Big Band, una formazione che comprende 22 ottimi musicisti e che spazia dallo swing al pop. Sin dalla sua fondazione, l’orchestra ha suonato nella sale da ballo, a feste private e di gala in Germania, Svizzera e Austria. Nel 2007 la formazione è stata inclusa nella Big Band Hall of Fame di West Palm Beach, Florida, con il titolo di Ambassador of Big Band Music. Nel 2009 il gruppo ha registrato il suo quinto album, Sweet Breeze. La Big Band di Dani Felber sarà per la prima volta ad Ascona con 18 musicisti al seguito e una cantante. Suonerà in un SPECIAL EVENT in cui verrà tributato un omaggio al musicista e compositore americano Frank Foster, noto per la sua attività nell’ambito della Count Basie Orchestra.
Born in Münsterlingen, Switzerland, in 1972, young bandleader, composer, and flugelhorn player Dani Felber graduated from the Hochschule für Musik in Bern in 2001 and in the same year founded the Dani Felber Big Band, featuring 22 top musicians playing everything from swing to pop. Since then the orchestra has performed at all the biggest ballroom dances, parties, and gala events in German-speaking Europe. In 2007 the ensemble was inducted into the Big Band Hall of Fame in West Palm Beach, Florida, as Ambassador of Big Band Music. In 2009 the group released its fifth album, Sweet Breeze. The Dani Felber Big Band will be in Ascona for the first time with 18 musicians and a vocalist, for a one-time only concert during which they will pay tribute to American musician and composer Frank Foster, best known for his work with the Count Basie Orchestra.

In dieci brani, uno per ogni anno del decennio, Mike Sponza e Pete Brown raccontano i momenti più luminosi e bui del periodo storico dalla guerra fredda alla crisi dei missili cubani, dall'omicidio di John F. Tournée internazionali e numerose incisioni caratterizzano l’ascesa della band. Nel 1988 Gelato rafforza il suo ruolo di bandleader e front man, dando vita a una propria formazione, la Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, che preannuncia la nascita, nel 1994, dell’attuale Ray Gelato’s Giants.
Popolare anche in Italia, Ray Gelato è un vero animale da palcoscenico. La sua presenza scenica e il suo leggendario senso dello spettacolo, assieme a un repertorio che prende ispirazione dalla musica di Louis Prima, fanno di lui un artista molto richiesto. In 1988 Gelato cemented his status as a band-leader and front man when he formed Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, a precursor to his current formation which started in 1994.

Written together with legendary composer Pete Brown and recorded at The Abbey Road Studios in London, the record is a personal tribute to the 1960s. In ten tracks, one for each year of the decade, Mike Sponza and Pete Brown recount the brightest and darkest moments of the historic period from the Cold War to the Cuban missile crisis, the murder of John F. Kennedy, the artistic turning point of Bob Dylan and the student movement of '68 among others. “An album dedicated to the '60s,” says Mike Sponza, “a decade that fascinates me in so many ways. Sassofonista, cantante, compositore e showman Ray Gelato è un artista affermato a livello mondiale. La sua carriera inizia nel 1982, con la partecipazione nei Chevalier Brothers, un gruppo che si impone in breve tempo come la punta di lancia del revival dello swing degli anni ’40 e ’50. Tournée internazionali e numerose incisioni caratterizzano l’ascesa della band. Nel 1988 Gelato rafforza il suo ruolo di bandleader e front man, dando vita a una propria formazione, la Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, che preannuncia la nascita, nel 1994, dell’attuale Ray Gelato’s Giants.
Popolare anche in Italia, Ray Gelato è un vero animale da palcoscenico. La sua presenza scenica e il suo leggendario senso dello spettacolo, assieme a un repertorio che prende ispirazione dalla musica di Louis Prima, fanno di lui un artista molto richiesto. Gelato ha calcato le scene più prestigiose (Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Umbria Jazz, Montreal, ecc), ha suonato per personaggi del calibro di Paul McCartney, la regina Elisabetta II, e si è esibito in apertura dei concerti di Robbie Williams in occasione della tournée del 2001. Ospite di numerosi programmi TV, ha avuto proprie canzoni incluse in colonne sonore di film (Enigma nel 2001, The Perfect Man nel 2005) ed ha ottenuto tre nomination al premio “Heart of Jazz Award” di BBC Radio 2. Curiosamente, è anche autore di un libro di cuicina Cookin’ With Ray.

The London-born son of a U.S. airman, tenor saxophonist, vocalist, composer, chef, and consummate performer Ray Gelato has put together a 30 year career in music as diverse and interesting as his eclectic origins. Gelato got his start in 1982 performing with The Chevalier Brothers, a group that began busking in London subway stations and led a 1940s and 50s swing revival that culminated in numerous records and world tours. In 1988 Gelato cemented his status as a band-leader and front man when he formed Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, a precursor to his current formation which started in 1994.
Ray Gelato’s Giants has performed at some of the largest venues and festivals in the world, including Carnegie Hall, The Royal Albert Hall in London, the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, and the Montreal Jazz Festival. Gelato’s legendary showmanship and stage presence also generated a number of unique opportunities to perform: at Bryan Adam’s 2001 birthday party and at Paul McCartney’s 2002 wedding; as the opening act for Robbie Williams in 2001; to Queen Elizabeth II at The Ritz Hotel London in 2002; multiple spots on ITV’s This Morning and BBC’s Top of the Pops 2; and featured songs in the movies Enigma (2001) and The Perfect Man (2005). Guitarist, singer, and composer Mike Sponza is back with his newest album, “Made in the Sixties”. Written together with legendary composer Pete Brown and recorded at The Abbey Road Studios in London, the record is a personal tribute to the 1960s. In ten tracks, one for each year of the decade, Mike Sponza and Pete Brown recount the brightest and darkest moments of the historic period from the Cold War to the Cuban missile crisis, the murder of John F. Kennedy, the artistic turning point of Bob Dylan and the student movement of '68 among others. “An album dedicated to the '60s,” says Mike Sponza, “a decade that fascinates me in so many ways. There is so much to say about it ...”.

Nato a Münsterlingen, nel Canton Turgovia, nel 1972, Dani Felber è un giovane e promettente direttore d’orchestra, compositore e flicornista. Diplomatosi alla Hochschule für Musik di Bern nel 2001, ha fondato nello stesso anno la Dani Felber Big Band, una formazione che comprende 22 ottimi musicisti e che spazia dallo swing al pop. Sin dalla sua fondazione, l’orchestra ha suonato nella sale da ballo, a feste private e di gala in Germania, Svizzera e Austria. Nel 2007 la formazione è stata inclusa nella Big Band Hall of Fame di West Palm Beach, Florida, con il titolo di Ambassador of Big Band Music. Nel 2009 il gruppo ha registrato il suo quinto album, Sweet Breeze. La Big Band di Dani Felber sarà per la prima volta ad Ascona con 18 musicisti al seguito e una cantante. Since then the orchestra has performed at all the biggest ballroom dances, parties, and gala events in German-speaking Europe. In 2007 the ensemble was inducted into the Big Band Hall of Fame in West Palm Beach, Florida, as Ambassador of Big Band Music. In 2009 the group released its fifth album, Sweet Breeze. The Dani Felber Big Band will be in Ascona for the first time with 18 musicians and a vocalist, for a one-time only concert during which they will pay tribute to American musician and composer Frank Foster, best known for his work with the Count Basie Orchestra.

La sua carriera inizia nel 1982, con la partecipazione nei Chevalier Brothers, un gruppo che si impone in breve tempo come la punta di lancia del revival dello swing degli anni ’40 e ’50. Tournée internazionali e numerose incisioni caratterizzano l’ascesa della band. Nel 1988 Gelato rafforza il suo ruolo di bandleader e front man, dando vita a una propria formazione, la Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, che preannuncia la nascita, nel 1994, dell’attuale Ray Gelato’s Giants.
Popolare anche in Italia, Ray Gelato è un vero animale da palcoscenico. La sua presenza scenica e il suo leggendario senso dello spettacolo, assieme a un repertorio che prende ispirazione dalla musica di Louis Prima, fanno di lui un artista molto richiesto. Gelato ha calcato le scene più prestigiose (Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Umbria Jazz, Montreal, ecc), ha suonato per personaggi del calibro di Paul McCartney, la regina Elisabetta II, e si è esibito in apertura dei concerti di Robbie Williams in occasione della tournée del 2001. Gelato got his start in 1982 performing with The Chevalier Brothers, a group that began busking in London subway stations and led a 1940s and 50s swing revival that culminated in numerous records and world tours. In 1988 Gelato cemented his status as a band-leader and front man when he formed Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, a precursor to his current formation which started in 1994.
