At the time, I was disappointed with the "redundant" surroundings and put the print in a box of failures. I look at it differently today...

Bokeh is usually behind the subject, but here it is also in front, with even a direct boundary between the two zones. Bokeh behind in-focus surfaces has sharp edges; in front it has boundaries of graded transparency (see the intersection of the heads of the two adults). Helps work out what’s in front of what maybe...

Taken at a country wedding outside Melbourne. The bride's large extended family included this small person. More "Light sculpting"...

(This image's Ilford HP5 negative turned up after the original upload of an iPhone re-photograph of a near 50 year old 10x8 print. The first version remains in my album as a calibration for the losses in the other images that are still without their negatives. Although superior in most respects, this version was produced by a very cheap scanner.)

The amount of cropping and the 42mm focal length means the result from my Olympus 35SP is just about the same as my half-frame Pen FT SLR with standard lens would have produced from the same spot.
