Many viewers have commented that The Guardian Building (originally The Union Trust Company Building) reminded them of a church.
This picture shows approximately half of the bank lobby on the main floor. Imagine the original bank building with 60-90 bank teller cages lining the entire length of both sides of this "nave". The ceiling was composed of a 3/4 inch (1.9cm) of horsehair and coated with a layer of plaster cement. Then, a canvas layer was applied, and painted with designs reminiscent of the patterns of Navajo rugs. This was a sound-deadening system.
The "altar piece" ( I suppose) was the three-story mural of the map of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Highlighted were the major Michigan moneymakers of the1890s to 1920s: mining, manufacturing, lumber, fishing, commerce, and agriculture. It was completed in 1929, unfortunately the year of the beginning of "The Great Depression".
This superbly decorated Art-Deco bank building was nicknamed "The Cathedral of Finance." So, if the earlier pictures reminded you of a church (reprised in the first comment below) --you were very observant : -)
Three Alaska railroad GP's prepare to load out the rest of the ARMS barge on a typical Whittier day. Cold, wet, and foggy pretty much sums up this all season port with the original military era housing standing in the background. One of the neat things about the Whittier switch stands is that they all are some how lit at the same time in this shot and no its not photoshopped. After loading is complete these three Gp's will depart under the cover of darkness for Anchorage.
The Kingfisher has been pretty interesting (but also hard) to capture. Next time I will try harder and maybe get closer for even better results.

Continuing my theme of reflections taken on my tour of Skye and the Highlands region this image just had everything. The clouds, boat, trees, the mountains and the small reeds in the foreground just made it, in my mind, complete.

Nefekalum's fab new materials tattoo, Medusa's Gaze, reminded me a lot of the Japanese art of Kintsuku - especially with the gold in the gaps of the cracks. I added cinphul's carnal headpiece [I turned it upside down for a different look] and completed the entire outfit with various pieces for that otherworldly Mage look. Yes, the diet is going well...

Glanmore was completed in 1883 for John Philpot Curran Phillips. The building was designed by Thomas Hanley, a Belleville architect who was born in Read.
This impressive yellow brick house reflects the architectural style of the eclectic Second Empire. It features an irregular shape, with bay windows and projections; iron cresting outlining the main roof; a coloured, fish-scale pattern of slates on the concave mansard roof; wide eaves supported on carved brackets, and the original wooden eavest roughs. Stone trimmed windows and doorways have semi-circular and elliptical heads, and wood trim ornaments the semi circular heads of the dormers windows
Bank of Commerce Palace , a monumental building that houses the Craiova City Hall, is one of the most famous buildings in the city , is a stately building, built on a four-level quadruple plan, in an eclectic style with obvious neo-Romanian elements.
The Bank of Commerce was designed by architect Ion Mincu in 1906 and completed in 1916 by his student, Constantin Iotzu .

I'm sorry for the delay but I was very busy at work... Finally I can show you the transformation from tadpole to toad complete. A centimeter of beauty!
In the easter day I freed 3 of these in the field near the pond where I found them and I'm waiting that the last two tadpoles have finished the metamorphosis to free them also!

Dear all, thank you for visits, faves and comments!
It's taking way too long, people. They shut this road down some time during trump's tenure. The Germans could have completed this in six months, at twice the thickness of a standard American road. On most days, no work is being performed here. On 9-21-2023, the bridge was finally completed and is open to traffic.
Last night, it was the last performances of the free show " Duels " in Émilie- Gamelin park presented as part of the
festival " Complètement Cirque" 2015 edition .
The net that you can see is not part of the show. It is a sculpture by the artist Janet Echelman installed temporarily in the park during the whole summer.
The watermill Lippholthausen (Schloßmühle Lippholthausen) in the Lippholthausen district of Lünen is a grain mill built in 1760 near the river Lippe. The watermill of the former Buddenburg noble house is a late Baroque half-timbered building, not far from the former Buddenburg Castle.
From the 14th century until 1902, the Buddenburg house was owned by the Frydag family of Buddenburg. The Frydags belong to the very old Westphalian nobles. The family is mentioned for the first time in 1198.
Around 1535, the noble family built a watermill south of Brunnenstraße and opposite Schlossallee. At the former river Henebecke a large millpond was excavated.
Afterwards, the runs of the creek Henebecke, Sadbecke, Wilbecke and Seltenbecke were diverted so that they flowed directly into the new millpond and fed it with water.
After the mill had been completed and put into operation, the farmers in the area of the thirlage "Buddenburg Mahlzwang" had to come to the castle mill to have their grain ground.
Nothing remains of the mill built at the beginning of the 16th century. However, the current mill building already has a considerable number of years on the hump: It was built in 1760 by Wessel Giesbert von Frydag.
In 1903, Haus Buddenburg and the mill were inherited by the Rüxleben family. The latter finally sold the property to the city of Lünen in 1913. Until 1930 grain was ground in the castle mill.
The old mill pond above the castle mill is no longer present, it was filled in 1938 during the construction of the Lippewerk. A loss for trippers, they could sail around on the pond with paddle boats.
Until the end of the 1970s, the House of Buddenburg, which also included the castle mill, stood in the district of Lippholthausen, now part of Lünen.
The Mühlenfreunde Lippholthausen e. V. restored and maintains the mill, which currently serves as an excursion restaurant and can also be used for weddings. It was placed under monument protection in 1985.
You have to enlarge the image and look closely to make out the thin "hairs" around the head of this hair-crested drongo (dicrurus hottentottus). Photographed in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.
Port-en-Bessin (France) - This fisherman moors his coquillard to the quay. In a few moments, the cargo of scallops will be unloaded.
Following wide shots of ships returning to port after a night spent scraping the seabed, a closer shot of a fisherman was essential.
Fishermen certainly have a difficult and very physical job. They are engaged in an incessant struggle against the elements, often at the risk of their lives.
However, contrary to a very widely held idea, they earn a very good living; from captain to ship's boy. The organization on board is collective and all crew members receive a percentage of the catch. The iconic image of the sailor drawn by an insatiable thirst for adventure is no longer what it used to be.

YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE – ELVIS PRESLEY
Sometimes in life we come full circle
I see a footprint of my beginning
and here I am back at the start
I see the people who tried to stop me winning
but I rise above them; and leave them far behind
I draw a line in shifting, whispering grains of sand
and something deep inside me drives me on
no looking back; I am complete; I understand
sometimes in life we cannot win them over
it's not our job; it's for a greater Hand
and He will guide me on my journey
bring me safely to the shore
where angels sing; rejoice and hold me
and I will not be frightened any more
He sees in us the pain; the human burden
He sees the weight that life and people bring
He knows how much; He knows and He is certain
He will not give us more than we can take
so that in our hearts and souls we'll always sing
and when at last our cup is brimming over
He lays his Hand upon our heads and soothes our brow
and we feel the greatest love that ever found us
and we are comforted and lighter; it is a miracle somehow
and once more we are peaceful
finding joy in simple things
as darkness; shadows and all our plights
are left behind and taken care of;
whisked away on angel's wings
and soon the lines of strain are smoothed; not furrowed
as clouds reveal the stars of wonder and ethereal light
and we begin to live at last the ever after; forget tomorrow
this moment we exist; and in this moment
I am complete; I am content right here, right now.

The Conservatory was designed by Superintendent Ira Thornicroft, and completed in 1939. Its walls are built of sandstone salvaged from a demolished section of the Hobart General Hospital. It house a fine collection of ferns and orchids.
This photo has not been cropped. I've simply made use of the 16:9 wide format selection this camera offers.
