The second 'Honk for Hope' UK coach event took place in Blackpool on 14/07/2020 and attracted around 200 coaches for a convoy along the M55 and along the Promenade before returning to the South Car Park at the end of Yeadon Way.
The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of the plight many operators currently find themselves in. The UK government has offered no financial help to coach operators due to the Covid pandemic almost wiping out their businesses.
The event was very well organised and attracted plenty of media coverage along with enthusiasts possibly enjoying their only event this year!

She left yesterday on her adventure - over a year long! First stop is with luckybells in Ohio!
In addition to her T-shirt and sweater outfit that I made, she has a custom box with a protective quilted blanket (great for packing and sleeping! :D), and of course, her dearest confidante, Teddy.

This ex Newport Bus Dennis Dart SLF Plaxton Pointer is a surprise recent arrival at Compass Bus. KU52 YKV was new to Thorpes in London as a dual-door bus. It was seen in Lancing this afternoon 17th March, 2023, on a 16 service. Not a camera trick - the front destination was not working.
Thirty years ago, as a painter, I had a studio. That fairy tale come true lasted for four years and three months before I went into the Navy. I always wanted another studio, a devil may care place to dream and create. For a couple of decades, it remained an elusive fairy tale dream. Now I find myself in the fairy tale again.
I wore green at work today for St. Patrick's Day. After work, I attacked the West wall, all 100 feet of it, with a vengance. Underneath the paneling and wallpaper I found eggshell blue to complement the institutional green on the East wall.

Compass
"It is necessary to keep one's compass in one's eyes and not in the hand, for the hands execute, but the eye judges." - Michelangelo
The compass jellyfish, Latin name Chrysaora hysoscella, has a saucer-shaped bell, with 32 semi-circular lobes around the fringe, each one with a brown spot. On the upper surface of the bell, 16 brown V-shaped marks radiate outwards from a dark central spot. The mouth, the only opening to the exterior, is located on the centre of the underside of the bell, and is surrounded by 4 arms.
The stinging cells and venom of Chrysaora hysoscella are strong and can produce painful, long lasting weals in humans.

Before and after views of where the B&O Beardstown to Flora branch crossed the C&EI's Chicago to St Louis main. The views are looking compass east, but timetable north on the C&EI and timetable south on the B&O. The upper photo was taken in October of 1983, and at the time the C&EI was currently under the Mopac flag, and the B&O was under Chessie System. The B&O had no signal protection here at the time, but rather utilized smash boards. About 100 feet behind the camera both lines crossed the Illinois Central charter line. Notice that both roads had their depots right next to each other, the B&O depot being the nearer one. Surprisingly they both still stand to this day, although the B&O depot looks as if it will collapse in on itself soon. Lower photo taken 3/20/15.

One of the oldest coaches in the Compass Royston fleet at the time of my visit on 24th April, 2009, this Volvo B10M-61 Plaxton Paramount 3500 had been new to Wallace Arnold as FUA 382Y. It would be sold to a County Durham operator in the Summer although I am not sure whether it was used by them.

Compass Bus has expanded markedly from its Sussex base with an outstation at Dunsfold near Cranleigh. Not far away, in Cranleigh itself, e200 1116 SN66WKE heads through a dreary December morning.

One of the big, bold sunflowers now starting to poke up high above the other plants in the prairies. It has it's common name because supposedly the large leaves at the bottom of the plant turn themselves toward the east and west to catch the sun, therefore the leaves point north or south. My observation is that this is not too reliable.
With grateful thanks to:
