From 5 years ago is this image of Autumn looking from my driveway. Taken with my now defunct Canon PowerShot G12.
I'm glad my wife picked this cactus up. It's been a great target for camera testing and playing around with techniques I don't often use. (Like macro with flash on Pan F from yesterday's photo).
This was my first test roll on the Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 522/24 since I repaired it. Its winding mechanism was being goofy and skipping a ton of frames worth of film and some goober (me) had poked a small hole in the bellows. Liquid electrical tape seems to have fixed the latter for now.
To fix the former, I removed the bottom plate and found a washer had worked its way out of place between two gears under the winding knob. Putting that back in place and reassembling it did the trick! The frame spacing isn't perfect, but I got the full amount of photos on the roll with no overlapping shots.
I'm pretty happy with this little camera! Fits in a pocket, feels really nice to hold, and the little Novar lens isn't nearly as bad as people make it seem. It's got some soft corners, but tons of character. Stopped down a bit, it sharpens up very well.
Anyway, this is getting long. I just need to quit being lazy, shoot more, and get back to writing camera reviews on my website!

Taken at Little Arsenic Springs. You can do this hike yourself by visiting the Wild Rivers Recreation Area in Northern New Mexico.
Clathrus archeri, commonly known as octopus stinkhorn, or devil's fingers, is a fungus which has a global distribution. The young fungus erupts from a suberumpent egg by forming into four to seven elongated slender arms initially erect and attached at the top.
Out the back of Mt Turoa. It was cold, windy, and icy snow. Great for sightseeing but the long queues and icy snow weren't conducive to skiing. Spectacular views.

To those in the US, happy Thanksgiving! To the rest of the world, happy random Thursday!
How cool is it when you take a landscape photo and also get some wildlife!? I happened to have a heron going fishing in this composition.

View from the acropolis of Lindos, Rhodes, Greece
St Pauls Bay is a picturesque bay just south of Lindos on the southeast coast of Rhodes.
It is claimed that St Paul landed here in the year 51 AD to preach Christianity to the Rhodians.
The small church built on the hillside is a very popular wedding location, most likely because of the beautiful views of the bay and Lindos Acropolis

I decided to look at my digital archives, to recover and reprocess some old straight-out-of the point and shoot camera jpgs.
I'll post one picture every thursday, with the motto "Great places, bad cameras"
