I shot this from Hurricane Pass. This lake is at an elevation of 12,000 feet. To get some perspective of size, there is a suv parked on the light colored area on the opposite side of the lake.
So if you have been following along with the pictures I have posted, I started with Crystal Lake, than Corkscrew Gulch, now Hurricane Pass, and next California Pass.

One of the most beautiful areas I see in Colorado. I always do this area when I am in the San Juans.

This is one of the many views you get if you drive Corkscrew Gulch, Hurricane Pass, and California Pass to Animas Forks. It is my favorite drive, and for most people used to 4wheel drive trails, fairly easy.
If you don't have a 4wheel drive vehicle with high clearance and very good tires, you shouldn't drive it. If you don't want to rent a jeep and drive it, you can do one of the jeep tours provided in Ouray.
California Pass (12,960 feet elevation) is straight across from Hurricane Pass. You can get a since of the size of the lake by the 2 jeeps by the lake.
