This entry is a short video with images of Seattle landmarks and a haiku I wrote regarding my commute, a walk to work. ~Margarito

Replaced my previous commute bike, a mountain bike, with a new one. It is a recumbent lowracer. It is a RaptoBike "Lage Racer", and it is very fast. Perfect for the 28 km (one way) commute to work.

This looks much more pleasant than standing in a full packed bus!

This was my first time out trying to do pan-photography technique; this tall bike was one of the more interesting captures. Taken on the waterfront during commuter hours in Portland.

Commuting lives photo project. Commuting to work each day can be a challenging experience and daily I meet hundreds of people, pledged at the same times and same trains.

It's interesting to distinguish how each of us spends these moments differently during the travel: there's who sleeps recovering energy, who reads a book, who is looking forward to the arrival, who divulges his or her feelings in front of a friend but above all, and here it is clear the cultural change occurred in recent years, there's who prefers alienating from it all using their smartphone.

The photograpy raises the curiosity that each of us possesses to a higher level, making the photographer able to analyse the subject even before shooting.

I have spent many of these trips between Monza and Milan to better understand these elements of humanity among the passengers: facial and body expressions, interactions between people, style and good or bad habits.

A day in the life: commuting to work on a summer day in 1998. Side streets, lower Manhattan.

Winter bicycle commuting gloves. They started off as ordinary blaze-orange hunting gloves, Thinsulate insulated and water resistant though not entirely waterproof. On the left glove I've added "Lightweights Power Reflectors" -- iron-on reflective trim, die-cut in small ovals and circles. I routinely add wide reflective tape to cycling gear, but it can be hard to cleanly cut and apply small amounts of that. These pre-cut pieces are a lot more convenient, and appear to be a good grade of material. Seen here after several trips through the washing machine this fall, still nice and bright.

Which form of commuting gives you more freedom: bus, tram, or bike?

ride-by shooting on the commute home today

This is the bike, Surly: Long Haul Trucker, I have been riding since selling my car. I sold my car to commute by bike. The only public transportation here is a shitty bus system or cabs. I have only used a cab once. I sold my car over six months ago and don't plan on owning another one.
