After surviving Liberia’s civil conflict, Raj Panjabi co-founded Last Mile Health (known in Liberia as Tiyatien Health) to tackle the triple threat facing health care in post-war countries: a battered public sector, workforce shortages and rampant poverty. Pioneering a community-based health system, Last Mile Health serves as a scalable, public sector model for achieving equity in health.
Having pioneered the use of mobile phones for healthcare in a remote region of Malawi, Josh Nesbit co-founded Medic Mobile to bring these innovations to the rest of the world. The model features a central clinic laptop running FrontlineSMS software, enabling community health workers to use mobile phones to coordinate patient care.
In March 2020, MedGlobal conducted its first large-scale medical brigade in Cúcuta, Colombia, a border city that has become an epicenter of Venezuelan migration. As Colombia braced for the arrival of COVID-19, MedGlobal volunteers provided basic medical care to nearly 1,500 venezuelan refugees and internally displaced Colombians living on the outskirts of Cúcuta.
This medical brigade was an extension of MedGlobal’s ongoing work in Colombia which includes an outpatient clinic serving Venezuelan refugees and a first contact clinic at the Francisco de Paula Santander International Bridge.

-- On Saturday, June 30th, [residents will rally at various locations as part of the Families Belong Together national day of action to protest the Trump Administration’s policy of forcibly separating children from their parents, the detention of families, and the fact that the Trump Administration has failed to reunite thousands of children with their parents.

The [CITY] protest is part of a National “Families Belong Together” Day of Action featuring more than 710 events in all 50 states and an anchor protest in Lafayette Square in Washington DC. Tens of thousands of people are expected to participate across the country. Specifically, the protesters will demand that the Trump Administration:
•Reunite families now. Permanently end family separation and immediately reunify those that have been separated. ICE must release parents immediately so that ORR can reunify them with their children.
•End family detention. Children and families deserve due process, not indefinite imprisonment. Children do not belong in baby cages and internment-like camps. Family incarceration is not the solution to family separation.
•End ‘Zero Humanity.’ Reverse the Trump administration’s policy that created this crisis and chaos to begin with. Parents should not be criminally prosecuted for doing what all parents do, which is bring their children to safety. This horrible nightmare for families will only end when Trump permanently stops his 100% prosecution policy.

Mobile cinema is an engaging way for communities to get more information about Ebola, on how to protect themselves and prevent the virus from spreading. After this first mobile cinema, a poll showed an average 40% increase in awareness of the disease.
“This is one way of engaging communities because when you have theatre, everyone will be attracted,” said Aggrey Nyondwa, Communications Officer with the Uganda Red Cross Society.
“This is one way to raise awareness and bring these messages about Ebola to the people.”

In March 2020, MedGlobal conducted its first large-scale medical brigade in Cúcuta, Colombia, a border city that has become an epicenter of Venezuelan migration. As Colombia braced for the arrival of COVID-19, MedGlobal volunteers provided basic medical care to nearly 1,500 venezuelan refugees and internally displaced Colombians living on the outskirts of Cúcuta.
This medical brigade was an extension of MedGlobal’s ongoing work in Colombia which includes an outpatient clinic serving Venezuelan refugees and a first contact clinic at the Francisco de Paula Santander International Bridge.

The [CITY] protest is part of a National “Families Belong Together” Day of Action featuring more than 710 events in all 50 states and an anchor protest in Lafayette Square in Washington DC. Tens of thousands of people are expected to participate across the country. Specifically, the protesters will demand that the Trump Administration:
•Reunite families now. Permanently end family separation and immediately reunify those that have been separated. ICE must release parents immediately so that ORR can reunify them with their children.
•End family detention. Children and families deserve due process, not indefinite imprisonment. Children do not belong in baby cages and internment-like camps. Family incarceration is not the solution to family separation.
•End ‘Zero Humanity.’ Reverse the Trump administration’s policy that created this crisis and chaos to begin with. Parents should not be criminally prosecuted for doing what all parents do, which is bring their children to safety. Mugenyi Adam is part of Uganda Red Cross Society ’s extensive network of community-based volunteers. The Uganda Red Cross Society set up a surveillance system and trained volunteers to educate communities about Ebola. They help people recognise the signs of the virus and urge them to alert the authorities.
