彭博社7月16日報導，高盛集團（Goldman Sachs Group Inc.）發表報告稱未來五年整體商品價格將會下跌，主要是因為全球供應增加的影響。高盛分析顯示，未來五年布蘭特原油將跌至每桶100美元，黃金將跌至每盎司1,200美元，銅價跌至每噸6,600美元，鐵礦石跌至每噸80美元。另一方面，高盛認為鋁、燃煤、小麥和玉米將分別有15%、10%、12%和14%的上漲空間。
高盛指出，如果對大宗商品總體長期看跌的判斷成為現實，將對新興市場貨幣造成重大影響。大宗商品價格下跌將使得收入從大宗商品生產國轉移到大宗商品進口國、大宗商品生產國之間也將發生相對的財富轉移，從而影響各國的貿易條件。
道瓊斯通訊社7月16日報導，法國興業銀行（Societe Generale）最新報告下調玉米價格預估，因玉米單產預期將創下新高的影響。該行預期第三季玉米平均價格將為每英斗4.30-4.45美元，較之前的預估下調45美分。玉米平均單產預估為每英畝167英斗，此將創下新高。法國興業銀行也下調第三季黃豆價格預估至每英斗11-11.50美元，之前預估為每英斗12.65-13.30美元。
摩根士丹利（Morgan Stanley）發佈的7月份投資報告則是下調黃豆投資評級，稱黃豆價格相對玉米價格將會走弱。摩根士丹利將黃豆期貨的評級從中性調低到了中性偏空，位於玉米、棉花、小麥以及活牛期貨之後。該行預計2014/15年度黃豆期貨平均價格為每英斗10.10美元。
自美國農業部六月底發佈季度庫存報告和播種面積數據以來，芝加哥期貨交易所（CBOT）11月黃豆期約已經下跌了11.5%。美國農業部預計今年黃豆播種面積將達到創紀的8484萬英畝，比市場預期高出335萬英畝。同期12月玉米期約跌幅更大，截至7月15日，12月玉米下跌了13.7個百分點，因為美國農業部的數據顯示6月1日美國玉米庫存遠高市場預期。
