This is Mendarièn.

He's a powerful planetary spirit or earth god. Calm and strong. He adopted a race of wonderful people because he felt drawn towards them and gradually loved them dearly.

The inspiration for his faceup comes from the Greenman mask. A very interesting concept, and first for me.

Mendarièn is a Soom Beast. <3

Deconstructed is a commissioned photography project about the industrial zones of Vilnius.

I was asked by Plazma architects (www.plazma.lt) to make a series of photographs for their new urban-themed hotel project. After considering many ideas we decided to explore industrial side of Vilnius – the one that would be the most difficult to explore for a random resident. It took a few months to create a final selection of 10 images.

First of all I wanted to distance this project away from the usual, dirty industry. I’ve wandered in those industrial areas before so I knew that there’re plenty of aesthetic visual exclusivities like expressive colours and forms. Areas are also very secluded so I tried to put some of a mystery and utopia in every single image.

On the first days of shooting I’ve faced some private-area issues, so I immediately moved a project to a new, more difficult level. I decided to construct the images from separate but real fragments.

After printing the test prints it turned out that the original resolution is way too low for 2 meters prints. So I shot every single fragment in parts (something like Brenizer method), merge them and lastly create a final composition from separate fragments.

All places in the images are non-existent. Those are the concentrated reflections of Vilnius’ industry as I see it.

Was asked by locate Lexus dealer to reproduce their dealership for a 5th anniversary celebration. Didn't get much $$, but it was a different challenge to build something other than Star Wars. A big shout out to Tim who was a big help with pieces.

A detail taken from one of two large (450 by 640mm) drawings done for a private commission. These are the biggest drawings like this I have done and I'm pretty stoked with the results and feel pretty excited about working at this scale.

Designed last year on commission, this model features retractable undercarriage, detachable cockpit cover and roof sections, four opening cabin doors, and seating for up to 28 minifigures.

After I posted a painting of my 457th character a few weeks ago, I got a paid commission job from Tyler to paint his 253rd sigfig.

HHmmmpphherh. This one took awhile because I've been super busy lately (and I have POS time management,) but I reaaaalllly like what I ended with. I was going for some sort of rainshine effect instead of the typical grungy brown and ugly Jabiim.

So yeah, now I can say I'm a paid artist. I do commission jobs so just FM me if you want me to make a thing.

Even though I haven`t settled the interior design business up yet, I have my first customer. We agreed on the color palette and details for an office area.

Thanks for the trust in my creativity ;)

The finished work will follow when its done.

Sunset on Santa Maria della Salute Church

The Festa del Redentore is an event held in Venice the third Sunday of July where the fireworks play an important role.

The Redentore began as a feast - held on the day of the Feast of the Most Holy Redeemer - to give thanks for the end of the terrible plague of 1576, which killed 50,000 people, including the great painter Tiziano Vecellio (Titian). The Doge Alvise I Mocenigo promised to build a magnificent church if the plague ended.[1] Andrea Palladiowas commissioned, assisted by Da Ponte, to build a majestic church on the Island of Giudecca. The church, known as Il Redentore, was consecrated in 1592,hand is one of the most important examples of Palladian religious architecture. After the foundation stone was laid, a small wooden church was temporarily built, along with temporary bridge of barges from the Zattere, so that the Doge Sebastian Venier could walk in procession as far as the tabernacle. Afterwards, the Doge made a pilgrimage to the Church of Redentore every year.

On Saturday, the eve of the festival, fireworks are let off. Preparations begin early in the morning when people begin to decorate their boats, or the small wooden terraces on rooftops from where they can admire the fireworks. At sunset, Saint Mark's basin begins to fill with up with boats of all kinds, festooned with balloons and garlands, and thousands of Venetians await the fireworks while dining on the boats. Around 10 o'clock at night, from pontoons placed nearby the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, the fireworks begin and Saint Mark's basin becomes one of the most atmospheric stages in the world. The fireworks last for around 45 to 60 minutes, illuminating the night and arousing intense emotions in both Venetians and visitors. Once the fireworks are over, the young people of the city head off to the Lido, where they sit on the sand and wait for dawn.

A bridge of barges is built connecting Giudecca to the rest of Venice. Sunday is devoted to religious celebrations.

The 2006 festival celebrated the victory of the Italian national soccer team in the World Cup and fireworks in the colours of the Italian flag were let off.

Commission work for Niume

Scan from an Agfa transparency received from a friend. It was with a batch of steam slides he bought. The Tyne Commission Quay with a green Class 101 DMU, no date but 1960s judging by the livery of the unit and the Ford Consul car. (Collection)

Daughter-in-law, Sophie, sometimes spots pictures I put on Faceache, and she recently saw my first upside down reflection pic and messaged me saying she might commission me to do 3 pictures for her! Here are 2 of them, with her family cats (parents' and grandma's). She requested a tiger to go with Sullivan and a Pallas's Cat to go with Misty (I'd never heard of them, but they remind me of the TV cat, "Bagpuss"!!)

Embarrassingly coincidental but over the next few days I'll be uploading photos of the European Quarter of Brussels. By the time I'm done the UK's future relationship with Europe may finally be determined as I think we've now reached the crunch point of crunch points.

Someone on the news this morning was saying it's 50/50 whether there will be a 'Deal' so I'm wondering if it might just have been better to toss a coin rather than decide to hold a referendum what is now approaching five years ago.......

From Wikipedia : "The Berlaymont is an office building in Brussels, Belgium, which houses the headquarters of the European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union (EU). The structure is located at Schuman roundabout at 200, Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat, in what is known as the "European Quarter". The unique form of the Berlaymont's architecture is used in the European Commission's official emblem.

The building has housed the European Commission since its construction, and has become a symbol of the Commission (and its name a metonym for the Commission) and the European presence in Brussels. The Commission itself is spread over some 60-odd buildings, but the Berlaymont is the Commission's headquarters, being the seat of the President of the European Commission and its College of Commissioners......

The office of the President and the Commission boardroom are on the 13th floor (occupied by the President in defiance of superstition surrounding the number), together with the meeting room of the Hebdo and the restaurant La Convivialité."
