This car I saw at vintage car rally and I was awestruck by its beauty. The sturdy chrome grill and the Jaguar on the bonnet look spectacular. The Mk V was a face lifted Mk IV. The Mk V was given a new front with integrated head lamps and some technical updates were carried out. The Jaguar Mk V is a very sought after automobile.

Piaggio Ape panel van
I saw this little van in Fowey. I thought it was ideal for operating in the town's narrow streets.

I like the contrast of the commercial vehicle descending North Street passing the historic area of Bishop's Stortford. The path is a little steep, so you are very close to traffic.

This Super Sentinel steam powered lorry was built in Shrewsbury, England in 1930 and saw an active working life until just after 1957. It was permanently loaned to the Royal Navy, specifically HMS Sultan, in 1960 where it was completely refitted and restored. It was eventually purchased by HMS Sultan in 1970 and remains in their possession until this day. It has a top speed of 20mph and consumes 1 cwt of coal every 15 miles and 10 gallons of water every mile.
This photograph was taken at Southwick, Hampshire during a D Day revival event. Not quite sure what the driver is doing hanging out of the cab and looking towards the rear of the vehicle but thought it looked more interesting than having him looking to the front!
He had a passion for vintage vehicles, but he wasn't sure it was cool. What would she think? :)
For this week's Looking Close... on Friday! group theme, All Green. To give you an idea of scale, the young man is 4cm tall (that's a fraction under 1.6").

Dalmore distillery vintage transport.
The Dalmore 15 year old Malt Whisky is a lovely tasting whisky and the best I have tasted. The bottle is a lovely shape with a stags antler on the upper part of the bottle.

At a time when six-wheeled Mercedes G-Class cars are trading at around 600 000 €, we thought it was important to remind you that some irréductibles Gaulois had also taken on such a crazy challenge. We are at the Paris Motor Show, in 2000, when the students of the “Institut supérieur de formation aux métiers de conception” present the fruit of their work: a remake of the famous Citroën of the «Croisière Jaune». Today in a good state of use, it is a fun and exciting car that we present to you. A mechanical revision will be necessary so that any enthusiast can use this 4 x 6 project-car in his country house. Why would you buy a classic Mercedes 6 x 6 when you can have a unique Berlingo ?

The Wirral Transport Museum & Heritage Tramway celebrated 100 Years of Birkenhead Corporation Buses yesterday by holding a special commemorative event. It started with two photography opportunities on Pacific Road and at Woodside Ferry, then a road run from from Birkenhead Park to Rock Ferry and latterly, a visit to Laird Street bus depot.

Many thanks to the owner, Shawn Driver of Drivers Welding, for allowing me to take this photo.
The company was the first with a new postwar car (1947), the first with a proprietary automatic transmission (1950) and part of the first wave offering a V8 engine, ahead of many Big 3 offerings. One accomplishment that is often skipped over is that the company also introduced a brand new and highly successful truck line, one that would turn out to be in active service until the company’s final days.
By 1949 Studebaker had a two-decade history as the maker of a full line of trucks – from big over-the-road haulers down to the half-ton pickup for the farm or the workplace. For a company that was built on providing sturdy, well-regarded commercial vehicles to the nation (albeit horse-powered ones) to wait until 1929 to really get going in the truck business is just one more in a long list of head-scratching decisions that came out of South Bend.
But once Studebaker jumped into trucks it certainly made up for lost time. After a decade and several series of purpose-built trucks, the 1941 M series made a significant splash with truck buyers.

A small (3" x 2 1/4") snapshot of what appears to be a new truck with flatbed body and stake racks, loaded on a Grand Trunk railway flatcar. Can anyone ID the make, model and year of the truck? The cab and body may well have been provided by a different manufacturer than the chassis and running gear. Probably from the 1910's or 20's. I found this photo in London, Ontario some years ago.
