The HBO Film Company will be in my Commerce Twp., MI, neighborhood this Wednesday, to shoot scenes for their new series called "Hung". The production company will be shooting scenes inside the Kodiak Creek Inn (which is next door to my home) and they will be using the adjacent Between The Lakes condominium property as a staging area for actors and a catering facility.

Hollywood invades my neighborhood.

My husband's description of the news from from HBO Films.

So I'm sitting at home yesterday, when a young woman drives up, comes to the door, and introduces herself as an assistant location manager for HBO. She tells me that next Wednesday they will be filming an episode of a new HBO show called "Hung" at the restaurant next to my house, the Kodiak Creek Inn. She tells me that she's just going around to a few of the neighbors and letting them know what's going on so no one gets upset when all kinds of cameras and caterers and actors set up shop on the condominium property behind my house. She also gave me a form letter to tell me the times and dates of filming. All in all, a very nice young woman doing a little PR work to avoid problems.

Naturally, I was intrigued that they would be filming a show next to and behind my house, so I looked up "Hung" on the Internet to see what it was all about. I've attached an article from the Internet describing the premise. Click here to read the article.***WARNING!! THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT FAMILY VIEWING!***

As you can imagine from reading the article, I couldn't possibly be prouder. (By the way, is horse-geezer a real word?)

Built in 1913, Kern’s Bakery is locally significant for its historic significance in industry and commerce and its architectural significance as an industrial example of the Art Deco style. Its period of significance is from 1931 when the building was completed until 1967 during the height of Kern’s popularity. The facade retains a high degree of integrity retaining original materials and design. The rear and side elevations contain rear additions that date from the period of significance illustrating the success of the Kern’s brand as the factory expanded to increase production. The building overall exhibits a high level of integrity. Kern's Bakery became a Knoxville landmark and successful regional bakery business that expanded from Knoxville with other three other factory locations in Virginia and Kentucky and delivery routes spread through the southeast to Nashville, Atlanta and Greenville, SC. It was well known to Knoxville residents from its prominent location that also served as a retail store, and through its unique family-focused outreach to the Knoxville community. Bread was produced at the factory until 2012. The building is a muted version of the Art Deco style. It contains references to classical architecture with its symmetrical central bay and the modern with modest geometric detailing in the doors, transom, sidelights, and cut stone detailing.
