The Ensign Commando, a British camera manufactured by Houghton-Butcher, has certain unusual features. It was designed during the World War II as a military camera for the British Army, but the conflict ended when it had hardly begun to be used. Therefore, Houghton-Butcher adapted it to the civil market. The other interesting detail is that the focusing is not achieved moving the lens, but rather the focal plane. All the film moves forward and back against a tension plate. Finally, this is a 2 format camera, 6x6 and 6x4.5 cm. But unlike other models that nee a removable frame (which ALWAYS ends up lost), in this case the reducer frame is formed by two integral rotating plates on both sides (as if they were shutters).
Lens is an Ensar Anastigmat f3.5 75mm in an Ensign Epsilon leaf shutter.
This example in question is the civil version of 1946, and it's my second Commando (first one wasn't usable. It's interesing how early seems to be in the production line, as it's lens serial number is only 13XX and the shutter even less, just a 9XX. Camera serial number is a C16XX.

Republic Commando Boss
After a long time I finished a new custom :( Please tell me what you think of it :)
Decals by AndrewVxtc
The new Arealight helmets are great so I decided to update one of my old Republic Commando figs.
The helmet shape is spot on in my view. The visor was painted on in layers from dark silver, light silver, blue wash, then light blues for the highlights and edging whilst the blue wash was still wet (blends it better).
I finally finished Zondkar Commando with many varieties of weapons and equipment , worth around 10 Commando name , I took that piece that covered the front of the pelvis and I colored the head with black stripes .
Well, my football season ended prematurely, leading to more free time. With my ample time, I realized how distant from the hobby I was. So to make up for spare time, I did something I have always wanted to do, make my own Commando. I bought Star Wars: Republic Commando back in the summer, and I instantly fell in love with the game. This, and the release of Star Wars Battlefront II, revived the drive of wanting to dig out the tools and work with my parts. Also, I just realized that I missed my 7 year anniversary, which has also lead me on a trip down memory lane. I am more than grateful for the relationships and fun I have had on this website, and I hope that this will continue. Anyways, I'm done with the personal stuff, on to the figure.
The figure I have created is based off the basic Republic Commando from the Star Wars Universe. His name and color scheme are based off of my High School Football teams colors, maroon and white. The helmet and backpack were base commando parts from Clone Army Customs. The chest piece, knee pads, shoulder pads, and pouches are made from ProCreate. The crotch and ab pieces are cut from the Spartan Armor from BrickForge. I painted this myself with Apple Barrel and Citadel Paints.
The commando monument near Spean Bridge in Lochaber. Unveiled in 1952 by the Queen Mother. A well known Category A listed monument dedicated to the men of the British Commando forces raised during WWII. Monument sits in a prominent site and looks over the area used for training with the mighty Ben Nevis and Aonoch Mhor as a backdrop. Took this moody shot as the sun was trying to pierce through the clouds. Looks like the statues are looking into the light...

A.K.A Bosigran Ridge, the ridge was used to train commando soldiers in rock climbing in the years of 1940-1945.
Brought a comic book character from my childhood into my collection. The comic wasn’t lengthy or very in depth, but I always loved the art style and design of the commandos.
Armor is from custombrickbuilder . Go support him while you can! Blaster is from clonearmycustoms. I used citadel and Apple barrel paints.
Here is it with his finish helmet. I'm kinda proud of that helmet it's just impossibly awesome. Let me know what do you think of him.
Thanks

Upon reviewing my old commando template, I figured it was inaccurate and outdated. I remade the leg, arm, and helmet templates to better match the clone wars commandos seen on the show.
Please check out the alternative views to see the details put into it! If you fave, comment too please. Thanks to Arealight for the amazing backpack and helmet!
1979 Dodge 100 Commando G08 cherry picker registered AMS182V, off the road since 1998. Still carries the livery of Ritchies of Haddington, who were engaged with international haulage and evidently access hire services too. The Dodge is visible in this position from satellite view going back at least 17 years. It almost looks like a Matchbox or Dinky toy in this charming colour scheme... Seen here hiding in some bushes in East Lothian in January 2026.
Just some combos I threw together.
This pic makes everything look a bit messy. Everything looks a lot better IRL.
In, fact I really like this guy, so he may be coming to BW with me.
Inspired by Detroitika and RILEYWILK.
Comment if you fave.

So once I saw Gregor at first, my first reaction was to make him, but since theres not helmet available, I decided to get my buddy Andrew to do it! I must say it was an excellent choice as I love him! Andrew did some incredible decal work that I'm very pleased with!
Two commandos from Teroch Squad spring into action. This is just a parts mash-up, but I like the result (and no paint!). The new helmet designs from Arealight are very nice.
The Commando Monument just north of Spean Bridge commemorating the service and sacrifice given by thousands of Allied troops during the Second World War. It overlooks the training areas of the Commando Training Depot established in 1942 at Achnacarry Castle. Unveiled in 1952 by the Queen Mother, it has become one of Scotland's best-known monuments both as a war memorial and as a tourist attraction offering views of Ben Nevis and Aonach Mor.
Of all the commando decals I've seen out there, I haven't seen any that are accurate to the armor the commandos wore during the clone wars (TV series). So I made this torso template to look like the ones seen on the Delta Squad in that one episode back in Season 3. I personally love the way it turned out, it look accurate to the SW: CW armor in my eyes. The arm template also needs a makeover, I thought it looked okay but it turned out to be butt-ugly. I'll design that soon. The legs also got the high-res redesign, but the sealant kinda distorted the decals a bit. Aside from that, I'm happy with the way this custom turned out.

The enforced lock down has its benefits. In this case some time spent trawling through my photo archive.
This particular shot depicts dads 1976 Norton Commando which had been posed by the front lawn at our then long term family home. Alas the bike and home have since acquired new owners.
I used to like riding this bike. I suppose with a 1976 build date and 850cc's it was almost modern compared with the older bikes in dads stable. It still had elements of old fashioned pedigree, but had modern functionality such as its electric ignition, which sometimes worked. Otherwise the kickstart option was used. If I recall correctly my main criticism was the high centre of gravity and a high seat. In fact I once fell off it whilst getting off to park it in the Peak District. Like a fool I had parked sideways on a gradient and didn't realise quite how far down my for would need to go to reach terra firma.
Paodok'Draba'Takat, full name Paodok'Draba'Takat Sap'De'Rekti Nik'Linke'Ti' Ki'Vef'Nik'NeSevef'Li'Kek, but most commonly known as Pao, was a male Drabatan who served as a commando in the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War, and took part in the Battle of Scarif.Prior to the Battle of Scarif, Corporal Pao carried out a demolitions job on Foerost where he took out a communications tower similar to the one on Scarif. He was killed during the Battle of Scarif, along with the rest of Rogue One.
Another pretty good sculpt and paint job stymied by lack of articulation that makes fighting poses almost impossible. I'm not asking for much - I don't need super articulation, just a couple of elbow joints. Even swivel joints would be enough, just so that action figures can look like they're in action.
'Some highly decorated soldiers in the Red Army who've suffered debilitating mutilation can end up awakening to find themselves interred in robotic shells. Prosthetic Commandos are primarily used as bodyguards for dignitaries and in perimeter defense at missile silos located near the border or in high risk locales. They're a particularly favoured ceremonial figurehead in the Warsaw Pact's elaborate military parades. '

This is my Lego version of Keith Thompson's awesome 'Prosthetic Commando', my favourite drawing from his collection. See the original one here.

In 1949, the sculptor Scott Sutherland won a competition open to all Scottish sculptors for the commission, The Commando Memorial. Sutherland's design won first prize of £200. The base of the bronze statue is inscribed with the date of 1951. The sculpture was cast in the H.H Martyn and Company's foundry. The memorial was officially unveiled by the Queen Mother on 27 September 1952. The monument was first designated as a listed structure on 5 October 1971, and was upgraded to a Category A listing on 15 August 1996. On 18 November 1993 a further plaque was added to mark the Freedom of Lochaber being given to the Commando Association. On 27 March 2010 a 2 miles (3.2 km) war memorial path was opened connecting two local war memorials, the Commando Memorial, and the former High Bridge built by General Wade, where the first shots were fired in the Jacobite Rising of 1745 in the Highbridge Skirmish [information: Wikipedia ]
