CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait - On Mar. 22 here, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Michael Harden, command engineer, 143d ESC, was honored with the de Fleury Medal by the Corps of Engineers. The tradition was started when the Corps of Engineers implemented the US Army Regimental system; the senior Engineer leadership sought a method for the Corps of Engineers to honor those individuals who have provided significant contributions to Army Engineering. With an emphasis on the history, customs, and traditions of the Corps, the Engineer Regiment instituted an award that tied in with the beginnings of the nation and the Army Corps of Engineers.
The day was capped off by the promotion of Staff Sgt. Eric Cintron, information assurance, to Sgt. 1st Class; Master Sgt. Nelson being awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his work here as FRAGO manager and Sgt. Teresa Munoz, human resources, receiving accolades for scoring 300 on her physical fitness test and being honored as Soldier of the week.

The International Bomber Command Centre opened in 2018 as a centre for “recognition, remembrance and reconciliation for Bomber Command”, after years of controversy about the failure to recognise (officially) a military arm which suffered so many losses in World War II. It is situated at the southern end of the City of Lincoln, the hub of “Bomber County” (Lincolnshire), where 27 of England’s bomber bases were located. It is well worth a visit. Nice to see ‘real’ faces as well as names in a list ;-)

Echoes of the Void: Inspired by Ingvar Cronhammar's Elia
Ingvar Cronhammar is one of Denmark’s most enigmatic and compelling artists, known for his ability to craft monumental works that merge industrial precision with an almost spiritual presence. His creations, often displayed in stark landscapes or raw natural settings, evoke a sense of awe and introspection.
One of his most iconic pieces, Elia, stands as a testament to his vision. Towering over the Danish countryside, this massive steel dome, with its enigmatic spires piercing the sky, is more than a sculpture; it is a dialogue between humanity, nature, and the cosmos. Brutal yet sublime, Elia commands the viewer’s attention, leaving an indelible mark on the soul.
A Poem for Elia
Beneath your shadow,
The silence hums like thunder—
A stillness alive.
Steel spires reach heaven,
Earthbound yet seeking beyond,
Timeless void unfolds.
Haikus
Winds whisper your name,
Elia, vast and silent—
Steel dreams touch the stars.
Storm clouds gather near,
A hymn of metal and void—
Eternal stillness.
