The memorial will stand as a fitting tribute to the 55,573 Bomber Command crew who lost their lives in the Second World War.
The Bomber Command Memorial has been designed by architect Liam O'Connor
The memorial has been built to be modern, yet classical, in Portland stone.
At its heart are the bronze sculptures of a Bomber Command aircrew.
Within the memorial, the space is open to the sky with an opening designed to allow light to fall directly onto sculptures of the aircrew.
The scale of the sculpture as a whole means that visitors will always see the profile of the sculpture against the sky above them, day and night - thus rendering that section of the sky powerfully symbolic for the memorial.

Do you remember playing the Atari 2600 game "Missile Command"? If not, the concept was simple. Defend your city from incoming missiles.
Did you know there is a huge back-story and drama to the game? Me neither. And even after listening to this record that tells that story, I'm still not convinced. The whole thing is very Cold War, as one might expect from 1982.
The back cover reads as such:
The planet Zardon is under attack! Only the brave men and women of the Missile Command can destroy endless waves of Krytolian missiles. Join the Command Team and help defend the universe as you fight back in Atari's Missile Command!
Here a sample of the record here: youtu.be/jJawN2F92kE

I later though settled for a bat Command Zoid at the request of the particapant who came fourth and decided to be a good sport.
Some of the parts used in making it were left over from another Moc I no longer have.
