This combine harvester survived the field fire. The farmer moved the machine to a part of the field that was already blackened by the fire thus ensuring the fire didn't manage to destroy the vehicle.

The new moon this summer were not very favorable. Often without clouds but with very little transparent sky. Also, the ambient temperature has contributed to complicate matters for those who use DSLR uncooled.

In fact, on this occasion despite being at 1600 meters above sea level, the temperature never dropped below 20 ° C making the sensor work in my 550D around 26 ° -27 ° C and file.raw with thermal noise.

Anyway I tried to get the most from the image combined with DSS.

Even from light pollution gradient wanted complicate my life, but I hope that the result is still pleasant

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

When I was a kid growing up in east Central Illinois, my two big interests were farm equipment and trains. In September of 2010 I was fortunate enough to get the ultimate "combo" shot as 66A's trio of matching GP60's passed a Case IH 7088 combine taking a short break near the track. The three high horsepower Geeps are headed west to Naples to grab a 62 car pig iron train and take it back to Decatur.

Can't image what it would feel like to have those talons on the top of my head.. ;)

I've not quite got round to processing my DSLR shots from last Summers trip to Norfolk and Cambridge (or the previous two years Summer holidays for that matter.....) but here's a panorama from Holkham Bay Beach.

At almost 360 degrees, this was created by stitching together two iphone panorama shots. It's a bit of a shame the highlights are blown but this shot captures the epic beach better than any of my DSLR shots.

Combined this with a walk out to Box head and considering theres 200000 people within 50kms of here plus Sydney just on the horizon I saw one other person. Great little rock ledge and waterfall linking the beaches too.

Tashi Lhunpo Monastery (Tibetan: བཀྲ་ཤིས་ལྷུན་པོ་), founded in 1447 by the 1st Dalai Lama, is a historic and culturally important monastery in Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet.

The monastery was sacked when the Gorkha Kingdom invaded Tibet and captured Shigatse in 1791 before a combined Tibetan and Chinese army drove them back as far as the outskirts of Kathmandu, when they were forced to agree to keep the peace in the future, pay tribute every five years, and return what they had looted from Tashi Lhunpo.

The monastery is the traditional seat of successive Panchen Lamas, the second highest ranking tulku lineage in the Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. The "Tashi" or Panchen Lama had temporal power over three small districts, though not over the town of Shigatse itself, which was administered by a dzongpön (prefect) appointed from Lhasa.

Located on a hill in the center of the city, the full name in Tibetan of the monastery means "all fortune and happiness gathered here" or "heap of glory".

Fortunately, although two-thirds of the buildings were destroyed during the excesses of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, they were mainly the residences for the 4,000 monks and the monastery itself was not as extensively damaged as most other religious structures in Tibet, for it was the seat of the Panchen Lama who remained in Chinese-controlled territory.

However, during 1966 Red Guards led a crowd to break statues, burn scriptures and open the stupas containing the relics of the 5th to 9th Panchen Lamas, and throw them in the river. Some remains, though, were saved by locals, and in 1985, Choekyi Gyaltsen, 10th Panchen Lama, began the construction of a new stupa to house them and honour his predecessors. It was finally consecrated on 22 January 1989, just six days before he died aged fifty-one at Tashi Lhunpo.

"It was as if he was saying now he could rest.

One has to move fast when shooting sunsets as the light changes so quickly. When combining rapidly changing light and long exposure photography you need to be on your game - a mistake in overall timings can set you back and having to start again may mean the beautiful light you started with, has gone. This is a 7 minute exposure on the south-eastern side of Derwent Water in the Lake District in England. The midges were biting and I was jumping around waiting for the shot to complete. What a sight to see! Luckily I got it right first time and I could retreat back to me car before they made a meal of me.

This is the sort of image that I find so appealing. I'm out in the Somerset countryside watching the harvest and looking out for wildlife. The Harvest is in full swing and the Hares have to be careful as their home gets smaller and smaller. This field was just full of Hares, all over the place along with a few buzzards. Please note: No hares were hurt by the harvest machinery.

The lazy and poor guy’s diorama :D

I lack the desire, money, skills, space and time to create a miniature diorama...

What to do? Use flickr photos as the backdrop!

This is the image I found... apparently it is actually in the Whampoa Garden (a private housing estate) neighbouhood in Kowloon, Hong Kong.
