PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, California -- Twenty-two service members from the Presidio graduated from the Basic Combative Course on May 20. The multi-week course covered multiple techniques used for hand-to-hand close quarters combat. 229th Military Intelligence Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Toni Sabo, presented completion certificates and praised the service members for using their own free time to better themselves as Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines.

Military Day was an excursion to Camp Buckner for the rising high school students participating in the Summer Leaders Seminar at West Point. While temperatures elevated the heat category to its highest levels for the second iteration of SLS, the students were still able to conquer obstacles, learn about college ROTC programs, engage in tactical movements, combatives and more. The Summer Leaders Seminar was a weeklong immersion to cadet life at West Point for more than 1,000 rising high school seniors participating in the annual event. Staff Sgt. a Mobile Training Team from Fort Benning, Georgia teaches troops from US Army, Alaska employment of combatives inside a urban enviroment. The physcialy demanding course was held on Fort Richardson, Alaska MOUT site and the Geronimo gym

The official kick-off to the 2013 Fort Bragg Army Combatives Championship, started with the elimination matches at Rittz-Epps Physical Fitness Center Dec. 13, 2013. More than 300 competitors were scheduled to compete in the #BraggCombatives tournament. The second Annual Modern Army Combatives Invitational, hosted by the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, took place in Osan Air Base Saturday, April 4.

 

A total of 120 fighters including 8 female fighters turned up for the competition, which made many in the audience excited from the very first match.
