Comacchio is a town and comune of Emilia Romagna, Italy, in the province of Ferrara.
Is situated in a lagoon just north of the present mouth of the Po. It is built on more than thirteen different islets, joined by bridges. The most important resources of these wetlands are the fish farming and the salt ponds. The seaport of Porto Garibaldi lies 7 kilometres (4 mi) to the east. The wetlands south of the town, the Valli di Comacchio, are classified as a Site of Community Importance and a Special Protection Area in Italy. They are also rated internationally important by the Ramsar Convention for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands.
Comacchio is a continuous blend of canals that run through the streets of the town center, lined with narrow alleys and houses with either brick façades or colorful exteriors. Comacchio attracts tourists all year round and has earned the nickname "Little Venice" of the Ferrara area.

CHIESA DEL CARMINE.
Questa è la chiesa più antica di Comacchio,situata in un angolo appartato del borgo di pescatori,ignorata dal flusso turistico che si concentra invece in prossimità dei Trepponti.
La chiesa del Carmine di Comacchio risale infatti, ai primi anni del Seicento e presenta una facciata molto semplice e umile vivacizzata solo da quattro paraste ( finte colonne in mattoni ), da un timpano con la corona ceca e da un portone ad arco a tutto sesto.
L’interno della chiesa purtroppo ha subito molti rifacimenti successivi che hanno portato alla demolizione del soffitto dipinto che presentava un dipinto centrale raffigurante la Madonna del Carmine attorniata da santi. Conserva ancora invece, al suo interno, una bellissima ancona lignea azzurra e oro del Seicento, che custodisce l’immagine vestita della Madonna con il Bambino.

CHURCH OF CARMINE.
This is the oldest church in Comacchio, located in a secluded corner of the fishing village, ignored by the tourist flow which concentrates instead near the Trepponti.
In fact, the church of Carmine in Comacchio dates back to the early seventeenth century and has a very simple and humble façade enlivened only by four pilasters (faux brick columns), a tympanum with the Czech crown and a round arched door .
Unfortunately, the interior of the church underwent many subsequent renovations which led to the demolition of the painted ceiling which featured a central painting depicting the Madonna del Carmine surrounded by saints. Inside, however, it still preserves a beautiful blue and gold wooden altarpiece from the seventeenth century, which houses the dressed image of the Madonna and Child.
