“Mediterranean though it can feel, Portugal is the only European country that has the Atlantic Ocean lapping around in its capital city.’’Christopher Hitchins
The Blues of Lisbon on the Edge of the Atlantic and at the Mouth of the Tagus River through Cais das Colunas, work of architect Eugenio dos Santos, during the reconstruction of Lisbon after the earthquake of 1755.These pillars mark the top of the marble staircase leading down to the Tagus river.
They represent the two pillars of the Temple of Solomon (wisdom and devotion). The columns are also a symbol of the port of entry to Lisbon.Cais das Colunas also served to welcome prestigious figures such as Queen Elizabeth II when she landed in Portugal in 1957.

One of the columns of the bridge Forte-Redinha. Architectural work that promises to solve the upset caused by the jams in the bridge of Igapó that unites Natal to the north zone that is on Rio Potengi other side. The picture was made of the Beach of the Redinha. I am at a small distance of the swimmers, but they see how they are small before the immensity that is the column that sustains the bridge.
