Portrait of Uli Sigg by Chinese artist Zhao Bandi, 2010.
The portrait was to be seen at A Chinese Journey, an exhibition of Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch (Netherlands).
The exhibition showed modern Chinese art from the large collection of Uli Sigg, Swiss businessman, diplomat and art collector.

I really need to upload something new soon :( This is another from summer (I suppose you already guessed it because of the dress). I took the photo for the right part at 5AM, when it was still dark, and the left around 8AM, without moving the camera so I could put them together in Photoshop later.
I got many strange looks from the people who was walking along the promenade. I man spent like ten minutes looking at me while I was taking the first photo (yes, there is crazy people apart from me who is already awake at that hour), before asking if I was expecting the sun to come from there. Which I was not: I was not trying to take a photo of a sunrise as he tought. But it was funny.
I'm sorry for having been such a crappy Flickr contact lately. I have Internet only during weekends and I try not to spend it all in front of a screen. Not going to uni (or work) means much less contact with other humans so I try to at least meet with friends Saturdays and Sundays (we are going to see Harry Potter tomorrow. Yay!). The rest of the week people is too busy.
I am thinking about spending some months in Russia. Sometimes it sounds like a great idea because I'd see my relatives and old friends. But then I try to think about what exactly I'd do there after vacations are over and everybody is working or studying again and it suddenly sounds depressing. I know I've said it before, but I feel lost.
Definitively lost.

I'm stampolina and I love to take photos of stamps. Thanks for visiting this pages on flickr.
I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.
By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me stamps! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!
thx, stampolina
For the case you wanna send also stamps - it is possible. (...I'm pretty sure you'll see these stamps on this photostream on flickr :) thx!

Caught in the act of blatant corruption!? (Just for the record, London happens to be one of the cleanest cities I have ever visited; a far cry from New York City, my (childhood) home town. The photo is entirely intended as tongue-in-cheek humor. I adore London!).

This Blue-winged Warbler hectically collected numerous insects in the hour we were fortunate enough to be able photograph it.
It's about time I post something besides my dogs. I have become increasingly self-critical and unsatisfied with my photos (besides the dog shots - hahaha) so I'm posting something I am not completely satisfied with, but with the hopes it will move me out of this "phase" that I seem to be stuck in. This is one of my blooming smoke bushes that I never noticed these little mini-bees collecting on before.
I adore dressing up, but then again who doesn't? This is my little elf alchemist I enjoy roleplaying with.

In the PMV bus on the way to the highlands getting a thumbs up from the fair collector. This is the best way of covering distance on a budget but knowing the bus fair and being self confident is the recipe for a more comfortable ride. At bus stops you have a driver and this guy who permanently screams the destination of the bus and occasionally/ often goes to potential customers trying to convince them to take this bus over the other, which sometimes can look like him taking their bags and just putting them on the bus. On this occasion we left just a third full as the driver got told the next village has people waiting to go, no one was there so we returned and waited for another 2 hours in order for the bus to fill till the last seat. On our way up to Kundiawa we experienced washed out roads, where on one occasion we had to pull the bus up a slope on a metal chain and soon after we were held up by Rascol's demanding money. They were happy with 5kina, enough for another beer but an interesting moment none the less.
This is somewhere near 12 mile just out of Lae, Papua New Guinea.

It took me forever to finish this.. I just couldn't figure out why I didn't like it each time and I realized it was the colours.. I somehow managed to end up with this version which is good enough. See below for the black and white and one other colour version.

This boy is an avid collector of fuzz from his blankie, my hair, and various other natural fibers. He holds on tight to these treasures until I inevitably discover their existance and confiscate them. All four of my babies have pursued this hobby, but he is by far the best at it.
Light painted still life with treasures brought back from the other side of the Atlantic. A kind of homage to the renaissance painters of the 17th century who depicted shell collectors and their collections... and loosely inspired particularly by Jaques Linard's 1640 painting 'Still Life of Shells and a Coral"
The colours that signify Halloween would seem to be orange and black. However, in certain parts of Dublin, green and yellow latex coated work gloves would appear to indicate the coming of All Hallows' Eve. The aforementioned gloves go hand-in-hand with what's colloquially known as "collecting" - the gathering of combustible material for "the fire". This was most probably O'Devaney Garden's final Halloween bonfire before imminent demolition.
