This image belongs to a series of motor vehicle photographs that do not contain owners or people with the vehicles. Therefore, they do not fall completely within the requirement of my 'Family Car' collection.
I thought however that somebody might like to see the rejects.
They have not been cleaned or restored to the extent of the primary collections, and they will not be placed in any Flickr groups.
If any images receive sufficient 'hits', I will consider cleaning them up for a more public release.

Photographed a few years ago these portraits of Sydney Starlett are both glamorous and informal. The styling was deliberately minimal (a white shirt and heels) so the focus remained on Sydney.

The library’s collection of Oversize Books is the last shelf of Circulating Books, immediately after the Zs. This area contains books too large for regular circulation shelving. Often these books contain pictures and photos. They are good resources for graphics and images.
Oversize Books use the same A to Z organization as the rest of the Circulating Book Collection.
If you still do not understand how the A to Z subject classification system works, ask a librarian to further explain the Library of Congress system to you.

This is my collection of Japanese dolls. I have collected all of these personally, having hunted in antique and thrift stores across the country. Some have faces of silk and others are made from gofun - a bisque-like substance made from oyster shells. Most of these probably made their way to America during the post-war period as souvenirs bought by soldiers. Some were probably brought as gifts from tourists and exchange students.
They aren't particularly valuable. You can go on eBay and select from the cream of the crop for not much money, but I prefer to seek them in person. There's nothing like finding a silk-draped figure elegantly standing on top of a pile of junk in some store somewhere. They come in all sizes and shapes. Some have very sweet faces. Some have fun stories behind them.
I think they are a lovely item to collect.
