ENGLISH
It's the time of year when graduates have lots of flowers in their studios, usually in the sink or on the windowsill, gifts from proud parents who previously advised them against pursuing the unprofitable art world.
It's also the time when they party exuberantly until the early hours and drag themselves to their supervising duties with a terrible hangover.
Often, several people are exhibiting in one room, and since nobody likes to get up before the afternoon, one or two always have to volunteer.
Photographers, on the other hand, have to be there early, otherwise they'll get caught in the large crowds.
I approach the young artists, explain my request, and most are shy and have to overcome their initial hesitation.
After I explain that publications and recognition are important, that they have to dare to step out of their comfort zone and into the limelight, and that art doesn't sell otherwise, they usually agree.
Here, of course, it's greatly abbreviated and exaggeratedly presented, because I am naturally sensitive, empathetic, and full of understanding for their situation. And if this isn't genuine, you won't gain trust.
Many have heard, "I could do that too," or "Even my son can do that," or "My three-year-old granddaughter can."
Some stand there with slumped shoulders, eyes downcast, as if about to be executed, just as some art directly evokes a gallows.
Others are funny and playful, like the young woman whose artwork has a function. She pulls on a strip of cardboard, the cigarette snaps, and nasal mucus leaks out.
Some beam at you and are very self-assured. Some are timidly brave.
One woman looks away, stroking her pregnant belly and her dreadlocks.
And the really clever ones know that you absolutely have to stand out, through special clothing, special hairstyles, or special behavior.
After all, it's the same in football: the extravagant ones are more likely to catch the scouts' attention.
And if you have the chance to get to know them a little better, they are all wonderful people.
