In my last song of my set, the gods unleashed a torrential downpour… and stupid ass me kept playing till the end of the song. I was soaked to the bones and so was my guitar! Yep my Cole-Clark Fat Lady 2 acoustic guitar with pickup. I wiped it down thoroughly enough and it seemed ok all dried up. But then when I plugged it in again later in the day… no lights came on the preamp and the soundies couldn't pick anything up.

Ouch!! It looks like my preamp must've blown from the rain.

I'm just so bummed out about this. I'm wearing the same frown on my face as my photo here, except with my teeth showing in absolute anger about it all. How ironic that the song I was playing was "Don't Look Back In Anger" by Oasis.

No more plugged in shows with my Cole-Clark I guess. Not till we get back home to Australia in a couple of years to get the electronics replaced. It won't be cheap… so I'll start saving up for it now. Tear drops.

I've been putting this off for some time. I thought what better time to do it than today. It's been ten years since we lost our brother Jay, though it seems like it was just 10 seconds ago.

To remember him and his life, here's my cover of "Nada Sou Sou". It's a song by an Okinawan band called Begin, quite a classic here in Japan though I'm sure you might not have heard of it. There were a few takes since I was a bit of an emotional wreck. I hope you can get the gist of the song from the English captions, as hard as it was to translate. And pardon my pitchy, croaky voice... I'll blame the glass of Maker's Mark I had neat just before it.

Here's another live acoustic cover for the year. This time, playing Taylor by Jack Johnson... though not at the beach like Jack... in my backyard instead. I can't really say it was a solo performance since I was accompanied by an orchestra of cicadas. I'd put the whole song up on Youtube but the noisy buggers just got a bit too arrogant and stole the whole show. So first verse only this time.
