I got outside for a bit today and managed to do some actual garden work. chomping.
followed by a little cleaning inside.
I am better, but I still don't know what it is I have/had.
I'm trying to be careful and spend a lot of time mending dog beds. which they tear up asap, giving me lots of sewing work.

85016 threads the Lune gorge in Cumbria with 6S50, the 13:11 Dee Marsh to Mossend empty steel train returning to Ravenscraig steel works in Scotland.
Opened in 1956, Ravenscraig's blast furnaces generated vast amounts of steel traffic until its closure in 1992. By 1987, Ravenscraig was shipping three trainloads of steel coil per day to the British Steel plant at Shotton.
With much of the distance between Shotton and Ravenscraig being on the electrified West Coast Mainline, electric haulage of the steel trains was usual. However, the sectorisation of British Rail in the late 1980s and early 1990s bought an end to electric operation of these trains. In the last 2 years of Ravenscraig's operation, these steel trains ran using diesel haulage 'under the wires' for over 200 miles in each direction.

6M94 Margam to Corby accelerates along the Up Derby Fast passing the deserted Tarmac plant at Washwood Heath with 66119 at the head. A working that usually departs Landor Street 20 to 30 minutes early making it pretty much impossible to photograph at this location an 04:06 departure on this particular morning, 16 early, made it just possible to capture.

This cottonmouth snake was sunning itself om the edge of a little spit of land that jutted out into the water. It had camouflaged itself fairly well and I stayed well back.
A westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe steel coil train ascends the Rocky Mountains just west of Clay, Colorado, on May 15, 1998. The heavy train is pulled by four EMD SD40-2s with an added GP38X kicker last unit. Pushing hard on the rear is a manned helper set with a pair of SD60Ms, just visible around the curve directly above the first car of the train. An all-green consist except for the Santa Fe SD40-2…

I am in California under a shelter in place order. But we are still allowed to go for walks. I drove over to Mare Island Naval Base, which is rich in photogenic objects but scarce of people. It was good to get out in the sunshine!

I've just got a few left to make my Monochrome and Toned 100x project for 2020, using images taken last year. So I shall subject you to a little splurge of monochromes...
This was taken at Sharpness docks in September. The port is still commercially operated and stands at the end of the Gloucester ship canal and dates from the early 1800s.
The docks are past their heyday and there are a lot of vintage items lying around - it's a pleasant place to amble around and interesting to explore. I spotted a coiled rope that hadn't moved in a decade or more and was intrigued by the patterns and textures.

A bit of digifiddling with this once hot plastic that I have had in my stash of interesting objects for years.

vintage button, 1 inch (2.5 cm) diameter. It was only when processing the photo I realised it was made from a narrow strip of gauze ribbon.
The other buttons I bought for this theme are gathered in adjacent photo, apart from three that are completely different and I'll post later.

A Union Pacific unit train of coil steel from Geneva Works has crested the 4,812 ft. summit at Mount (Point of the Mountain) south of Draper, Utah. Twin Peaks and Lone Peak of the Wasatch Range loom above the train, on the east side of the hazy Salt Lake Valley.
Leading the charge is one of UP's 37 SD45s equipped with Locotrol (RCS), a technology used for radio remote control operations.
