Airshow Wings of Freedom - Ede NL - 2019

In 2019 it is 75 years since Operation Overlord, the code name of the Western allies, started on 6 June 1944 to liberate Western Europe. It would ultimately be quite a fight and Operation Market Garden would go into the history books as the grandest airborne ever. To support the advance well, temporary airports were built at various locations, that proved to be very effective and made a major contribution to the liberation. This field in Ede, a central city in the Netherlands, was one of them. Through various activities, the awareness of freedom is brought to the attention and shown to the Dutch public through 75 years of remembering, commemorating and celebrating together. On this day there is again a real airport with a runway and a control tower. More than 30,000 visitors attended this day.

The aviation event and the WWII airport are incomplete without the activities on the ground. Because we want to match the 'Forty Years' image as well as possible, a historically correct camp is being built. Around 250 re-enactors and historically dressed people depict the daily life of the Second World War. At the camp you can experience what life at an Allied airport looked like. You will encounter pilots, bomber crews and ground personnel from both the Royal Air Force, the US Army Air Force but also the counterpart, the German Luftwaffe. In addition, the various Allied army units are well represented, such as the Airborne troops, both American and British and Canadian. The entertaining staff such as fitters, chefs, office staff and nursing staff are also abundantly present. All of these people live and live throughout the event at the camp and therefore take along a suitable collection of vehicles, weapons and utensils alongside tents.

At an outdoor gig in 2001, a septic tank below ground in front of the stage we were playing on ruptured. We are pointing at a human poop that somehow made it's way to the surface

I'm thinking of doing a run of t-shirts for these. The QR Code actually works. Any takers?

1/43 code 3 conversion of a BMW 330d Touring xDrive auto in the livery of South Wales Police.

I was contacted on here recently and asked to make this specific South Wales Traffic Car.

The decals were custom-made and applied by me. They are accurate with correct number plates, roof codes etc.

I have also applied tracker aerials, a comms aerial, a roof-mounted ANPR camera and a wi-fi receiver.

As with all of my models, it is supplied with a certificate of authenticity.

Unfortunately my photography skills are not as good as model-making skills, so some of the photos are not great!

I hope you like the model. Feel free to comment and contact me at mad4bmws@hotmail.com if you want to discuss a particular model.

Had this lovely t-shirt printed for a friend and colleague.

As I have a few more of these, they are up for grabs for all designers, developers or other people who sometimes have the urge to tell their (fellow) coders to just get on with it ;)

I have a couple of M, L and XL left.

Just drop me a line if you are interested in buying one.

QR codes are a great way to put information right into the hands of the consumer. There are many great uses for QR codes. Ask a C2 rep how to integrate them into your campaign.

Qr codes have a high error correcting which means you can add pictures on top of it if you want.

The Code of Hammurabi is a well-preserved Babylonian law code, dating to ca. 1700 BC.

Started making a programmable timer a few weeks back. The Arduino code at the moment is stupendously long and untidy.

A scan from my old Boy Scout Handbook from 1985. That I still have this page saved since then speaks to the depth of my interest in knighthood I suppose.

There are probably countless versions of the knighting ceremony, the simplest being a hard slap on the shoulder with the command "Be a knight".

John Boorman's "Excalibur" may have been fantastic and outlandish in many respects, but it's knighting ceremony was pretty standard: "In the name of God, Saint Michael, and Saint George, I make you a knight. Rise Sir ___"

The film "Dragonheart" touted a somewhat stodgy, idealized version called the Old Code: "A knight is sworn to valor, his heart knows only virtue, his blade defends the helpless, his might upholds the weak, his word speaks only truth, his wrath undoes the wicked."

Most recently Ridley Scott's "Kingdom of Heaven" delivers a well written version of the ceremony: "Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong; that is your oath. [Slap!] And that is so you remember it. Rise a knight."

Such virtues are mostly cast aside in popular culture nowadays. Most people view this stuff with doubt, dislike, and oddly enough, suspicion. Anyone who tries to behave this way clearly must have some ulterior motive, right?

I think Jeremy Irons sums up a realistic interpretation of an oath to be a good knight when he meets Orlando Bloom: "I pray God and Jerusalem that you can accomodate such a rarity as a perfect knight."
