A razorbill strikes a dramatic pose. Another shot from my birdwatching trip on Machias Seal Island. The island is home to the largest colony of puffins in the North-East, and also large colonies of razorbills and arctic terns. It is a great place for birdwatching, but rather hard to get to. Only two boats a day are allowed to land there (one from the US and one from Canada), and they fill up very quickly.
Explored on 10/6/24 at #192. Surprisingly, it was selected the day I uploaded it. Never happened before.

The final sunset of the year turned out to be a slow but long burner. Somehow over the many years I had photographed the Santa Cruz coastline, this was my first visit to Its beach. Wanting to get up close to the arch I timed my visit with the winter low tide and southerly sun angle.
At first the sunset appeared to fizzle away but slowly the burn reignited and the sky became radiant pink all over. To make things even more interesting, a SpaceX rocket launched up the California coast and we were able to watch it streak across the sky.

An oldie from 2020 Aug. Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the artist. But it is stil a wonderful work.
A spinone Italiano puppy meets her first first adult Spinone who is not her mother. One day this little one may weigh 90 pounds. At this time she frolics, kisses, coos, chews, and pees and poos where she likes. Gotta love this dog that we have known since before she was born. Thank you niece Janet and Mike and AJ and Sophia for sharing this chill puppy dog.
