Massage a slightly warm coconut oil to your scalp and hair roots in circular motion. Leave it for 30 minutes or overnight then shampoo as usual. Read more...
Ingredients for Cruciferous Crunch, a recipe I found in an older issue of VegNews. This was my first time trying Brussels sprouts and I discovered that I really love them! This is a really great recipe!
All you need is 1 head of cauliflower (cut into florets), 10 Brussels sprouts (halved), 3 tbsp of unrefined, organic coconut oil, and 2 tsp of sea salt.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees, combine cauliflower florets and Brussels sprouts in a large mixing bowl, and then drizzle coconut oil over it and sprinkle with sea salt. Toss the veggies gently and spread evenly on a baking sheet. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, stir the veggies, and bake for another 10 minutes. This makes 6 servings. You might want to decrease the salt because I found it to be a little too salty.
Musk Lavender Patchouli Handmade Natural Soap
This brick and purple polka dotted soap is made with musk fragrance oil, lavender essential oil and patchouli essential oil. The dark brick red color is musk, so the scent is mainly musk, but the lavender patchouli dots come through very nicely to give this a well rounded scent. I've inriched this bar with avocado butter, jojoba oil and sweet almond oil for extra moisturizing goodness.

Ani Phyo's almond-date crust with cashew cream-coconut oil filling.
The pie called for double the cashew kream recipe. If I can ever eat pie again, I'd do a single batch and fill the other half with fruit.
Just having some fun trying my hand at liquid soap making. Started yesterday and finished it up today.
Second batch of cold process soap for me. Totally addicted! I decided to try a goat's milk soap...starting with frozen goat's milk so as not to burn it with the lye. I don't have a lot of photos of the process...I'm finding it hard to take photos while wearing safety goggles, marigolds and a mask over my mouth and nose...perhaps once I have the hang of the soap making down a bit more I'll be able to get more photos as I go..but I digress...
I am fearing that this soap won't turn out, but I was afraid of that with the last batch and that one worked out just fine..so we shall see! I'll take more photos as it develops and such!

shea butter, coconut oil, goats milk, rose water......I planned to do this only for the men, but why not for women too? Fluffy and creamy and smooth....I'm in LOVE
I knew I would end up with at least one food photo while home during break. I made a lot of things today including vegan caramel, made from coconut oil, almond butter, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt.

The texture wasn't quite right: a bit more biscuit-y than muffinish, and a tad dry. Though the latter may have been my fault: I used frozen mango chunks which were still quite cold when added to the dough, so had to extend the cooking time a bit to get the muffins cooked.
But the mango-coconut combination's a wonderful pairing of flavours. Will continue to use it with my usual muffin recipe.

Sri Lankan Buddhist devotees light oil lamps at Gangarama temple in Colombo on Full Moon day, December 16, 2013. Every month, this entire island of 18.6 million people shuts down for the day. Offices, schools and cinemas are closed. Bars don't serve alcohol. It's Poya, the full moon, birthday of Buddha as far as Sri Lanka's majority Buddhists are concerned. (Pic by – Sanka VIDANAGAMA)

Or, Kornpeito? Another inspiration I had is that I wanted to something to highlight the wonderful corn that was in season especially the yellow/white bi-color ("cream & sugar" and other various names for it) variety.
This however is a mix of yellow, white and bi-color corn.
What sets off fresh, local corn better than the other fresh, local produce that comes ripe at the same time?
So also in the bowl is diced tomatoes, summer sweet peppers of various colors and kinds, jalapeño, sweet onions, green onions, and fresh basil, as well as a few complementary seasonings which included salt & pepper, and a couple secret ingredients to really set it off and make it my own creation. This particular one had a Mexican theme.
It was a hit, especially with a couple people who came up to me for weeks after to tell me how much they enjoyed it and hoped I would make it again.
Wüt Wüt! :D
