Pleinmont headland in the midday winters sun

The cottages originally inhabited by the pilots whose job was to pilot ships into the Menai Straights, these pilots also manned the nearby lifeboat along with nearby locals from Newborough. The name Llanddwyn translates as Dwynwen's church, Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of lovers, the Welsh equivalent of St. Valentine. The remains of St.Dwynwen's church can still be seen on the island

A stormy day in Cape Greco, apologies for posting so many old pictures, I now produce an annual book of my photographs (for my own record) and because we are in partial lockdown I decided to go back to 2013 and get a book together, it means revisiting old images that I'd forgotten about and trying to improve the originals for the book. I recommend it to you all!

Fiery sunset sky seen behind some beachside trees. Seen from the staff carpark, as I was leaving work at the end of the day.

Pays Basque, France

Along the coastal walk.

A nice walk path (25 km) leads from Bidart to Hendaye, offering lovely views to the French Basque Coast.

The image is taken in September 2016 during our vacation

in France. There are still so many images to share...

Beyond the machair and resting on the white sands and turquoise waters of “Traigh nam Faoghailean” lies the lovely little coastal hamlet of “Hogh’a Gearraidh” on the western shore of North Uist. The large sweeping bay of Traigh nam Faoghailean makes for a lovely way marked coastal walk taking in most of the famous Balranald Nature Reserve, certainly worth it.

Many thanks for your visits, kind comments and faves, very much appreciated.

A lovely coastal Bank Holiday hike from Moelfre, Anglesey

I've posted a few from Catherine Hill Bay and it's "secret rockpools", but never looking south down the coast. The red conglomerate (I think that's what you call them) rocks caught my eye, being such a contrast to the blues and greens of nature here.

Fun fact for the day ... why isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds?

Have a great week ahead, and as always, thanks so much for your comments. They're genuinely appreciated.

Waterscape 45/100 in 2025

From the last leg of our coastal hike from Tintagel to Boscastle. There were two ponies grazing on the hill that features the little white lighthouse (Boscastle Coastwatch Station). I was extra careful as the pony seemed to be fairly close to the cliff edge!

The hill was the location of an ancient settlement - those people had quite the view from their huts!

……Another area near to Padstow that we like to do an evening walk, this is also a good spot to watch the sun go down but we were rather early this day. Have a great Sunday folks, Alan:-)…….

Waterscape 10/100 for 2025.

Looking across Middle Camp Gully yesterday toward Catherine Hill Bay Beach, on the way to the secret rockpools and Shark Hole via Baldy Cliff and the rock shelves. I think that just about maxes out my geographic feature noun quota for the day!

The water’s dark but clear, thanks to tannins from the gully’s runoff - as the title says, nature’s own tea brewing away.

A sunny 30°C today—perfect beach weather! But I’d probably say the same if it were 10°C and cloudy. 😉

Have a great latter part of the week and thanks for your comments, they are always truly appreciated! 😊

…… Thought this Padstow view would look reasonable in Mono, pleased with Lightroom tools and indeed the shot taken by my phone - excellent DoF & detail for a phone. This view is a short climb up the hill from where we stop with the caravan - Dennis Cove. Alan:-)

The Iconic Bondi Beach, arguably the most famous beach in Australia.

This view is what greets you when you emerge from the secret bush track, on the way to the secret rock pools at Catherine Hill Bay. They are just around that corner. You just need to scramble down the couple of layers of rock shelves and, tide allowing, and wander around the corner.

So here's something to think about that I find very cool: When you were born, you were, for a moment, the youngest person on earth :)

Thank you for any comments and likes, they are always greatly appreciated!

……This shot of Bedruthan Steps was taken from where you would have gone down the steps to the beach - still inaccessible due to a rock fall. This shot was taken on my Fuji, see previous post taken on my phone - I’m now thinking what may have looked like Pembrokeshire on the horizon is in fact cloud!?!..…….. Alan:-)
