Een gemakkelijke wandeling om eens lekker uit te waaien langs de Maas. Via een rustige weg loopt u naar de Maas en dan wandelt u over een prachtige dijk naar de buurtschap Kokkelert. Via prachtig pad loopt u naar de brug bij Maaseik en dan struint u zeer geruime tijd door de weilanden en over grasspaadjes verder langs de Maas. Bij het keerpunt loopt u door de weilanden en via mooie veldweg loopt u weer Roosteren binnen. Het stuk langs de Maas biedt mooie uitzichten omdat u meestal hoger loopt.
This officially kicks off a new feature, my RIP album. It will be comprised of my photographic subjects that no longer exist. I never like seeing former subjects disappear but am always glad that I have a record of them.
This neon is one of my earliest posts to the Mick L FLICKR photostream and one of the few times that I knew in advance that the building would be demolished. This version of the P-Club ended forever although a much lesser club resurrected the name later at another location.
I took many outside shots over a few days, and the owner of the club kindly allowed me to photograph interior signs on closing night. I was also a long-time patron of the P-Club, which had some good entertainment at times and always offered excellent free popcorn. It was a major entertainment venue in its halcyon days and many hockey and football stars sometimes visited.
I put 10 photos of other some of the other P-Club pics plus other RIP subjects in the album (see below) and will add more with new posts through time.

This beautiful fly is large, bold & loud. It will buzz your head & make you jump with it's sound. They mimic wasps but are actually harmless. This is called Batesian Mimicry. My first time to get a shot of one.

Ele cobre bem com uma camada, mas coloquei duas para ficar mais perfeitinho e finalizei com seche-vite pra dar esse brilho ainda mais bonito. Quem ainda não tem esse esmalte, vale à pena se jogar, porque ele é lindo, barato e ainda vende bastante por aí!

En un viejo muelle llamado de los Franceses suerte de prolongación de la actual calle Ayacucho, unido a los murallones por donde pasaban los trenes de la Estación Retiro, se funda el Club de Pescadores, primera entidad en su género en América Latina. Este muelle de diez cuadras de largo era utilizado en el siglo pasado por empresas carboneras francesas para desembarcar su producto en nuestro país y descargarlo directamente a vagones del ferrocarril, los que luego se deslizaban por unas vías colocadas sobre aquel muelle. La actividad del mismo había cesado hace algún tiempo, y el abandono causaba en él un deterioro creciente.
Un grupo de pescadores que allí se reunía para practicar su deporte, autorizados para el uso del mismo por las autoridades nacionales, munidos de tablones, maderas y restos de material ferroviario lo repara y reforma con su propio esfuerzo, poniendo aquello en condiciones para poder practicar allí la pesca: Nada más y nada menos que diez cuadras de muelle!
Nace allí una vocación comunitaria al impulso de la pesca deportiva.

Kiara, David, Ethan, and I collaborated to due the four card suits. I took on the challenge of Clubs as you can see. I had to get a bit creative with the interpretation, seeing as how clubs is kinda an obscure symbol. I found out though that the symbol is actually an adaptation of one of the suits in German which is an acorn. Unfortunately there aren't any acorns around. So I went with a bone club. Whenever I think of a club I think of a cave man so I decided to go neolithic with this and even made a loin cloth haha.
