The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) Showday, Saturday. The weather was awful, poor visability and 800 to 1200ft cloud base till late afternoon. The aircraft that could fly still put on a good show.
The Alenia C-27J Spartan put on an excellent aerobatic display for a large transport aircraft.

That's the north face of the western flank of Pic du Midi in the distance. The cloud base was something like 11,000 ft altitude and was there all day. The drop to the right goes about 4,000 to 5,000 feet down, at a steep incline, to Chamonix. If you started to fall off that trail you'd have about 30 feet to grab something and then it would be roll, fall, and roll some more for quite a while -- assuming you cleared the tree tops!

Traversing the summit of the Aiguille Grive (2,732m) in Les Arcs, France just under the cloud base.
We dropped off the cornice on the left hand side of the ridge a bit further on before descending down to the valley floor to Nancroix (1,438m) then onto Le Moulin (1,264m) where we caught the bus back up to Vallandry.
This shot reminds me of one of my favourite days out skiing.

Before the sun is to disappear behind the low cloud base out in the Greenland Sea, she mirrors her self in the freezing sea water – between the floes of drifting ice – and the open channels stretch like silver ribbons in the shadows of mountain Mitra in the landscape north (right) of me.
