Sunset on the Cycladic island of Santorini.
The chapel Agía Theoskepasti clings to the steep wall on the west side of Skáros-rock below Imerovígli. A wonderful place to enjoy the sunset over the Caldera (05/13/2014, 8:14 pm)

This stump was an ancient white cedar. They cling to these cliffs and have been determined to be 600-800 years old. Although protected in this conservation area there is ample evidence along the cliff of those who have succumbed to the elements in this harsh and very exposed location.

High atop the rocky cliffs of Angels Landing in Zion National Park, Utah, life finds a way to survive. Off in the distance, you can see part of the narrow fin that leads to this lookout, often only a little more than a couple feet wide, with sheer drops on either side.

It's red-winged blackbird aria season, with the males taking to perches of all kinds, no matter how tenuous.
An overnight snow clings to everything this morning. Soon the wind will pick up and the delicate softness will disappear.

How dark is too dark on a picture, is it personal preference ? I think so.

A small flock of pigeons clings to the curvature of a barn roof as they try to avoid cold feet in the snow. The early morning sunrise illuminates a barn and silo that once was king of the farm. Often in the mornings older people cling to the reassurance they will make it through another day because they made it through yesterday and hope today doesn't bring anything new.
