For fatal circumstance, I was right there, on the Promenade des Anglais, with my brother, to photograph the fires of July 14th ... with the silhouettes of the crowd, which would soon be decimated ... in my photos you can see children on the shoulders of their fathers ... how many of them perished ? I'll never know ... that's what tears me more ...
Op ruime afstand voor het station heeft de machinist de regulateur van de locomotief gesloten. Klikkend over de korte spoorstaven loopt de "Kikker" uit. Er moet spaarzaam gereden worden want de extra verdienste van de kolenpremie is meer dan welkom als bescheiden aanvulling op het karige salaris.
Een eenzame reiziger, de stationschef en de bode wachten al enige tijd de komst van de stoomtram af. In de handkar liggen de bestelgoederen die overgegeven worden aan de conducteur in de bagage- en stukgoederenwagen. Ook de melkbussen gaan mee naar de melkfabriek dicht bij de stad. Minder dan een handvol passagiers stapt uit, hen wacht nog een stevige wandeling naar het dorp dat we op de achtergrond zien.
Als de tram vertrokken is keert de rust op het landelijke station wederom, het hoogtepunt van de dag is dan voorbij. Wanneer de volgende tram komt zal de avond reeds gevallen zijn.

The Burlington Northern, former Colorado & Southern line out of Leadville, Colorado ran to the molybdenum mine up the mountainside north of town at Climax. The SD9 assigned to the job arrived when steam ended in the early 60's and was the power until the line shut down seen here in July 1979.
Rumors existed that, even after the destructive climax of the civil war which plunged the world into post apocalyptic wastes, the Absalom prototype survived, lived on to wreak destruction still.

The Flame-rumped Tanager occurs from western Panama south through Colombia to western Ecuador. This is a sociable bird, being typically found in monospecific flocks, which inhabit shrubby semi-open areas.

This locomotive always fascinates me. Built by Keith Mason in his machine shop from parts bought, bartered and traded for and built to the plans for an 1890's class 'A' climax. Multiple photo ops have been attended by myself and would love to attend one more. This run on the Locust Heights and Western in West Virginia.
Climax of the 2016 Perseid meteor shower seen from a lonely road in Baranya. Shot on the morning of august 13th at about 1-2 am. Composite of 8 photos blended in GIMP
CSXT M650-28 passes the Climax siding as it heads north on the Bowline. This section of the Dothan sub runs along side US 84.
V713 sits on the main in Climax, 11,000'+, as Q651 takes the siding and slowly rolls by. V713 was combined with Q650 in Thomasville, GA.
I don't use that title lightly.
I posted the previous shot to set up this scene in hopes that I could relay it the way that it played out before me. Like I said, I'd never witnessed a location change so dramatically and I pray that I've been able to relay through this series what it was like.
Put some dry ice on the floor, pretend that there is a bald eagle just to your right, feel the warmth of the coming day on your face after MONTHS of continuous rain and you should have an enth of an idea of what it was like to be kneeling here. Thank you God and Tonia for making me move here. :-)

Fire works to celebrate the Year of the Rat in Hong Kong lasted for 30 minutes. At the last minute the fireworks reached its climax as the interval of fireworks was much shorter and the sounds more rapid.
I captured the two images that make up this Vertorama on Wednesday evening… approximately thirty minutes after sunset.
I’m as busy as a bee today… sorry that I don’t have any time to view any of your latest images… will try to catch up as soon as I have a free moment.

At just over an hour late, eastbound Amtrak passenger train #50, the Cardinal, hustles out of the westbound tunnel and over the peak of the Alleghany grade in the small Virginian community of the same name on September 15, 2019.

...So yesterday in NYC we had some nasty weather. Half snow half rain with a touch of wind blowing it all over. I don't think anyone was mentally ready for it yet. It seems a little early in the year. Anyway if you know me thats my favorite stuff to get out and shoot. I had my new lens with me the Zeiss 100mm f/2. I was a little worried about having it out in the rain. So I got a plastic bag and wrapped the camera with it and cut a hole to stick the lens through. It was a little uncomfortable and I didn't last long. The lens cost me 2k and I wasn't ready to damage it on my first week!
