Photo was taken during the Pittsburgh Earth Day Climate Strike took place on 4/22/22.
From the event organizers:
Pittsburghers from the Sunrise Movement and other allied organizations (see full list below) will rally at 414 Grant Street to celebrate Earth Day and push for serious climate justice policy from our local, state and national governments. We’ll be striking to make sure that people in power know that they can’t keep ignoring the voices of the people, and we’d like to bring out as big of a crowd as possible to do that. So come on down everybody, and join us in celebrating Earth Day!
WHAT: A rally to celebrate Earth Day and demand concrete climate action.
WHEN: 2 PM - 4 PM ET.
WHERE: At the City County Building, 414 Grant St.
WHY: The world is in a state of emergency. Across the globe, the climate crisis is wreaking havoc on our communities, destroying our homes and livelihoods, and leaving death and destruction in its wake. The message is clear: our extractive system has resulted in the greatest crisis we have ever faced, and we must rise to defeat the challenge of our lifetimes. We cannot let politics or corporatism convince us that there is no way out, because there is: a just transition from fossil fuels to a regenerative economy.
WHO: Our organizers and endorsers are an intergenerational coalition working together to bring about concrete climate action. If your organization would like to join this list we only have two things that we specifically ask of our endorsing partners:
Bring out your base! As many people as you can. The more you can spread the word, the more impact this action could have.
Be ready to keep working together after the action is over. We can’t afford to stop fighting and to ensure we get the justice we deserve we have to fight as a team. The partnerships formed through this action are something we hope lasts well after it!

Our Demands
We’re structuring this action so that every organization can bring demands to the table, but each organizations’ demands do not supersede the overall goals of the strike:
1. Pittsburgh universities (Pitt, CMU, Chatham, Carlow, Duquesne, Point Park, etc.) and institutions must divest from fossil fuels, and do so with transparency to the public.
2. The City must transition away from single use plastics, starting with taking them out of our retail services. A regular conversation between activists and the Gainey administration in regards to plastic pollution needs to be established.
3. The broader community must get involved and engaged in fighting the climate crisis in any way they can. This can be by joining organizations or other means!
4. Gainey and other reps must stand against the cracker plant and all current and planned fossil fuel infrastructure, to protect our air and water quality and communities.
5. Pittsburgh must divest from the police and reinvest in the community.
6. Education on the Climate Emergency: Allegheny county schools must recognize the threat and educate on it.
7. A fracking ban in Allegheny County.
8. The halting of national pipeline construction.
9. The passage of voting acts that ensure everyone has easy and equal access to voting.
10. The city, county, state and country must invest in communities of color and create opportunities for good green jobs

Washington DC, Friday September 20, 2019. Strike! On a beautiful late summer day thousands gathered in John Marshall Park and marched a short distance to the lawn of the US Capitol to protest the failure of Trump's Republican Party to deal with the coming climate emergency. The Republicans will now face a unified left that has finally connected the dots between environmental degradation, corporate capitalism, growing income inequality, racism, militarism and other structural evils of our society.

Melbourne solidarity rally for global #climatestrike #fridays4future organised by #extinctionRebellion. Several thousand people rallied outside the Victorian Parliament House before marching. This culminated in a mass die-in at the corner of Bourke and Swanston streets in the heart of Melbourne CBD. The march then proceeded up to Carlton Gardens.
Climate Strike for Climate Justice - Woman's Warrior Song
September 25, 2019
At 7:30am, Native Women with Idle No More SF Bay lead the march up Montgomery Street, singing the Woman's Warrior Song.
Groups with long banners and wooden oil derricks have just blocked off all intersections feeding into these long 2 blocks of the San Francisco Financial District. Other groups pushing carts full of paints and brushes, are converging along this route to begin the massive project of envisioning solutions to the climate crisis through giant interconnected street murals.

People from several groups gathered outside Labor MP Peter Khalil (Wills) office on Sydney Road for the May 3 National #climatestrike event organised by Student Strike for Climate.
There was at least 40 people at it's peak, but perhaps 60 people there in total with people arriving and leaving the event.
There were quiet contemplative meditation sessions, a few gatherings for discussion or chanting.
A group of 5 people were allowed in to meet with Peter Khalil. He made it known he was personally against fracking, but still tried to justify new gas pipeline infrastructure in northern Australia that will result in opening up new Fossil fuel gas fields in the (Beetaloo Basin) Northern Territory and (Galilee Basin) Queensland.
Khalil signed the climate emergency declaration in December 2016, and has been kept informed of the latest science, including the IPCC Special Report on global warming of 1.5C. He should be aware gas is not a transition fuel for this time of climate crisis. Three three demands of the student climate strikers are: 1. Stop Adani 2. No new coal or gas 3. 100% renewables by 2030.
If Khalil was serious about the climate emergency he would be working to change ALP policy on gas, not providing justifications at odds with what climate science says is needed for the speed of transition required.

Students from Ryerson University, led by the Ryerson Student Union, marching down Gerrard Street on the way to the Global Strike for Climate Justice in Queen's Park.
The Global Strike for Climate Justice was an event held on September 27, 2019, in Toronto and in numerous other Canadian cities, marking the end of a week-long Global Climate Strike rallying world leaders, communities, and individuals to join the fight against climate change. Everyone was invited to leave school and work to join the strike, which involved a rally in front of Queen's Park, the seat of the Government of Ontario, and a march through Downtown Toronto.

Global Climate Strike for COP 27 - Youth in the streets of San Francisco
On November 10th, hundreds of youth from across the Bay Area rallied in the streets of San Francisco with powerful messages to #DefundViolence and #FundOurFuture.
From the organizers at Youth Vs. Apocalypse:
Join the international movement led by African, Egyptian, and Arab climate justice organizations in a global climate strike to demand that this year’s UN climate meetings in Egypt — COP 27 — go beyond business as usual to take urgent, powerful action on climate justice.
In San Francisco, Youth vs Apocalypse (YVA) is leading a coalition of many local climate and environmental justice organizations saying: Choose Action Now! Defund violence, Fund our futures!
