Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate: the Hollywood of Morocco

Atlas Studios is a film studio located 5 kilometres west of the city of Ouarzazate in Morocco. Measured by acreage, it is the world's largest film studio. Most of the property lies in the nearby desert and mountains. Many sets from the filming of various movies remain in place and, because of this, the studio also operates with guided tours and has become a popular tourist destination.

The Cleopatra was a common sight in Sardinia. This is a rather splendid looking male I spotted nectaring one morning. As you can see they look very similar to our Brimstone.

Cleopatra’s Island, also known as Sedir Adasi sits on the gulf of Gokava in the Marmaris peninsula. A popular destination steeped in urban legends of romance and passion, its name stems from a love affair between two of history’s most prolific people.

Called Kedreae in ancient times, present day myths refer to when the exotic queen of Egypt, Cleopatra spent time in the region. Although the natural landscapes and turquoise-blue sea captivated her, she was missing her homeland.

We saw these on a street where we've never been before and I had to jump out of the car to take photos. There were dozens, all different which I didn't understand. I guess there are lots of varieties of Canna Lilies.
