The City of Eugene 's Parks and Open Spaces Ludwigia hexapetala pull and cleanup in Delta Ponds. This particular species of Ludwigia is from Central America and is invasive in the Delta Ponds area.
After last weekend's storm the Morgan's Pond was completely filled with debris, including by one woman's account 4 dead cows and 2 dead pigs.

It's not a pretty stretch of stream, nor easily accessed, and certainly doesn't draw tourists, but the nature of water (it all flows downhill) demands that we keep it ALL clean.
Hundreds of volunteers helped beautify several Dallas ISD schools on Thursday, April 14, 2011, leading up to Earth Day. The project was sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency and DART, which bused the volunteers to 10 district campuses. No janitors here! The kids (which means the girls only, since they are seriously sexist) are on a rotating clean-up basis. But also there are all-school cleanup days.
For this one, we cleaned the whole school grounds of tons of litter, in preparation for breaking out Peace-Corps purchased trash barrels. Step by step, little by little.

I'm recovering from tendonitis so I couldn't do much at cleanup. So I took a bunch of photos and tried not to get in the way.
