The village street crew has a tough job. They have to maintain the streets for both snowmachines and wheeled vehicles.
This means keeping the snow at a depth that is safe for traction, turning and braking for all vehicles.
First a blade, then a plow, then remove the excess. Good on 'em.

This wreck occurred on the Boonton line just off Interstate 80 and east of Port Morris and Lake Hopatcong. The road going under the tracks near the wreck site was called Shippenport Road. Some of the cars that were involved in the wreck were carrying rock salt and plastic pellets and their contents were all over the place.I did not manage to get the number of the crane involved with the cleanup but did notice that insulator on the boom which I never saw on Erie side cranes.Hulcher Railroad Services assisted in the cleanup also. 02-13-1974 Howard Kent Jr.photo.

With cars and debris strewn about, New York Central's Southwestern Limited came to grief after derailing at the diamond crossing in Wellington, OH on January 10, 1960. The big hook is in the back, doing cleanup work. With Coach 2939 to the left, Coach 2956 deflected outward and was awaiting removal. Note the shankless coupler still attached to this end of 2956. 2956 had been built by Budd in 1947. It was one of a group of 60 56 Seat Coaches built for the NYC by Budd in 1946/47 on Lot 9613-004. It would then operate in various parts of the Great Steel Fleet until this incident. Although the side facing appears to be undamaged, just visible is a lump in the roof where the other side of the car took a big hit. The damage was enough that 2956 was retired after this wreck.

Passenger Car of the Day
10/26/25
Since L070 has come back to days, it has operated like clockwork. Somewhat overshadowed is the L053, which skulks around the area doing work.
This day, the L053 with CSXT 8089 would hang out at Leeds Jct for L070 to pass after shoving a Rumford bound train into Den for its counterpart L054. Having finished my L070 chase earlier in the day and getting my chores done, I figured L053 would be getting close on time to make it back. Sure enough they cleaned out a lot of various pockets of traffic between Leeds and Danville and had a healthy 70 cars for the trip back to Rigby.
Seen here just outside of CP-Falmouth (former CPF192) hustling back to Rigby yard.
Taking apart an old build to incorporate elements into something new and part way through the process looked up and saw this. Not sure if it's an explosion cloud, a building or some Chris Foss-ian ancient craft.
So here we see a pic of the actual Ryde Cleanup truck numbered RL761 and it is a 2015 Dennis Elite with a 24m Bucher (MJ) UrBin body. I personally reckon instead of slapping the standard signage on this truck the council should have been a bit more creative and made up some signage advertising the At Call Pre-Booked Cleanup Collection service.
RL761 has no bin lifter on the rear so its great truck with a wide/low bowl which makes it an easy job throwing the bulkier items in like mattresses, lounges etc. Average load of Dry/Hard Waste is 5-7 tonne. RL761 just last week had a new packer installed cause the old one kept cracking. Ive done quite a few runs on Ryde Cleanup with this truck and overall its pretty good to work with.

I'm so sick of just cleaning my own apartment over and over, i decided to tackle the filthy streets of LA! Just kidding, i just found a broken old vacuum cleaner on the sidewalk. Don't worry, i washed my hands thoroughly after touching it.

Here's the story ---
You all have seen this place over the years.
It was like an oasis where one could rest
& take shelter from the monsoon storms.
And for some unknown reason the large tree
that was right behind it fell down and crushed
the entire shelter. Huge mess ! Also for some
unknown reason I've slowly been cleaning up
the pile of broken tile roofing and lumber. I put
lumber in one pile and broken tile in another ;-)
Now what you see here was not done by me.
When we showed up this morning I was quite
surprised to see a crew came in and did this.
The reason I was slowly cleaning and stacking
the material is because I felt good doing it ;-)-
Figured I've been coming here for many years
and the owner knows exactly who I am. I've
never caused any problems and have even
picked up garbage left behind by the field
workers. So I just naturally felt like it was
up to me to help out where ever I can.
In the near future we'll come back out
and find the shelter has been rebuilt.
Today is December 24th 2022.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank You.

Earlier today I went out with six teachers and 180 students to do a beach cleanup at the far end of Changi beach...we were pleased to discover that the beach is kept relatively clean.
I don't noramlly use PS to clean up images, I wanted to brighten them up and fix the color a little from the originals I posted. Sorry the posting again. Just wanted to upload the cleaned versions.
The back entrance to the nature park I was at yesterday is right along the river and there is this dam. There is no parking near it so, I drove to the closest parking lot, and hiked back over to this location. I wasnt about to not get a shot of this.
I just wish all that clutter wasnt in the water hanging on the edge of the falls. I was hoping it would all flow over and get out of my frame prior to shooting. Oh, I do have very wishful thinking, dont I? LOL.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone. Im heading out to do some shopping :-)
and photos, of course!!
