11 January 2013, Aberystwyth, Wales, UK. Dozens of volunteers, including many from the Wales University Officer Training Corps (Aberystwyth Company) came with their brushes, buckets and shovels to help clean up the debris left on Aberystwyth promenade by the recent storms.
The removal of five underground storage tanks began on September 9, 2009 and was completed on September 17, 2009.
This picture is of flooding in the community of Lyburn, which was caused as a direct result of the mountain-top removal process of valley fill, and Massey Energy's Bandmill Coal Company's failure to keep their sediment pond cleaned out, which they were written up for by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.

Heavy equipment clears the wreckage of last night's LPA79. The contractors had difficulty removing some of the derailed equipment that had been mired in mud and muck (such as the covered hopper on its side here); early indications were the cars would remain at the wreck site until the ground dries out.

Nearly $71 million in Recovery Act funds are putting Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) on track to wrap up several legacy environmental cleanup projects at two research reactors by September 2011.
The completion of the Recovery Act projects at BNL will end all EM legacy cleanup activities at the Lab.
These photos show the Clean Landfill, the site of the largest Recovery Act-funded soil and debris removal project at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, before and after cleanup.
A street we had to take often - wanted to show the section of the barricade that was lost from the van pictured above.
The house has since been moved to the clearing on the right side of the road.

Living Lands and Waters (LLW), an Illinois-based non-profit dedicated to cleaning up America’s rivers, spent nearly two weeks hosting volunteer clean-up days on the Delaware River. Held Aug. 20 through Sept. 2, the clean-up effort was sponsored in part by Philadelphia Water and resulted in the removal over 35,000 pounds of trash. Here, volunteers from Philadelphia Water and the Delaware River Basin Commission join the LLW crew for a Sept. 1 clean-up just north of the Betsy Ross Bridge that netted 26 large bags of recyclable bottles and 17 30-gallon bags of non-recyclable trash. I spent the day cleaning the battery terminals, battery acid, and
refilling the batteries with distiller water. You can see the cleaner
batteries on the right and the dirty batteries on the left.
More than 700 volunteers cleared the James River and its banks of trash and recyclables on Sept. 10, 2016. The cleanup covered 17 sites in the cities of Richmond, Newport News, Petersburg and Lynchburg, and Chesterfield, Henrico, Goochland, Powhatan, Appomattox, Buckingham, Charles City and Isle of Wight counties. This is the 17th year for the cleanup, which is organized by the James River Advisory Council, jrac-va.org.
