These birds are cleaning Sunflower seeds off the ground under the feeder. As I post this it is snowing and the yard is completely covered.
Every day this bird, and others, fly in while the lions are being fed to steal the leftovers.

Doing some hard drive cleanup and rearrangement so figure I'd toss up a few old US shots. A CN SD70 leads a southbound grain train on the Atlanta North District.
The Muskrat was busy climbing part way up the creek bank to dig out some plant stems, bring them to the water's edge to clean and eat them.

A week ago we had about 5 inches of snow in East Texas. The farm had quite a few tree limbs downed following the uncommon event for this part of the US. So...clean it up!
With 10 cars of "stragglers," an extra work train approaches the MP 774 semaphores just south of Las Vegas, NM. The crew spent the afternoon picking up all of the random scattered MoW cars left in various spots between Lamy and Chappelle, as well as setting off cars of ties at Glorieta. At Las Vegas they'll add another handful of cars, but unfortunately they never made it back towards Albuquerque before dark.
Some of the volunteers I worked with at a past Great Whiteaker Cleanup Parade which is an annual neighborhood community cleanup.
Unfortunately I will be unable to participate this year due to work obligations. :(
A quick trip to Fellows Lake between bouts of rain and thunderstorms yielded crew of Black vultures. There were either two carcasses or one that had been partially 'relocated.' This portion was in the 'weeds.' The rolling red truck didn't seem to bother this guy or the crew in the road.
The Ulsoor Lake cleanup project in Bengaluru involves draining, desilting, and removing decades of waste. Action being taken to tackle severe pollution from sewage and industrial waste, and to restore water quality and improve ecological balance.
Over the years I've been following red foxes, I'm always amazed by how attentive they are as parents. Whilst the male plays a more limited role in bringing up the next generation, the vixen is a devoted mother, constantly checking on each cub to ensure all is well.
In the case of this particular vixen, that involved making sure her family were well groomed before the family portraits were taken...

After a derailment in Colfax closed Donner well over 12 hours prior, a massive cleanup effort was underway to reopen both main tracks. After reopening one of the mains, MOW started to tackle the much more damaged main.
Sitting on Track 2, a MOW train has been waiting to be unloaded. This train was carrying new track and ballast for the track it was sitting on, as this would be the same track as the derailment. Meanwhile, floodlights were being sent and set up around the derailment site and staging areas, as this team would have to work all through the night. Many local residents had gathered on this overpass, conveniently in the middle of it all, to watch everything happen. This all happened as the small community of Colfax was holding an annual festival, and I'm sure for the residents a derailment was probably the most interesting thing that happened in town that entire month.

Cast-aside detritus at the old paper mill, some years after the major equipment was hauled off. Does it look bright here? It's not! This is a 30-second exposure.
After last weeks storm the cleanup begins. We lost quite a few trees, but fortunately no major damage
This little spike and his other spike buddy were working on eating our windfall apples, yesterday. I appreciate that! However, earlier in the year they wanted to eat all our flowers!!
General Electric E60MA No. 609 speeds an unidentified NEC train through the ghost station of Colonia NJ on 24 June 1989. The big motor looks good after recycling from its original form as the 957, and for a short time, renumbered as the 951.
Older stations in Colonia and Iselin were replaced by the larger Metropark station, and in 1989 the old infrastructure was still standing and accessible.
Back when cobra began to go bankrupt in the early 90's, a number of cobra agents and leaders began to hide away assets and supplies all over the world. Cesspool was no exception. His signature creation, "plasmatox" was buried in several locations, but in their haste the barrels and containment units were not properly secured, and now over a decade later pools of the substance have begun to emerge from the ground. Letal and a team have been sent to investigate and recover whatever is left of this horrific substance.
Drone shot of the cleanup efforts in the aftermath of the CP498 derailment on March 7th, 2021 at 12:45pm. A temporary road has been constructed from the church parking lot to the tracks. The line was opened for traffic at 9am the next morning. This photo was taken before the temporary flight restriction was put in place.

As we were walking around the Smithsonian Zoological Park, my wife noticed this little birdie just standing on a branch above us.. I was able to snap this shot, which I hope does justice to how pretty the bird was...
I also thought it was a nice touch that he had some dirt as if he had just eaten something...
