Finally cleaned the desk and decided to take a few pictures.

The coffee maker says 'clean me', and the next day it got cleaned.

If you have a minute, take a look at the series here. Sorry about the large number to go through but I have uploaded these for our son and his fellow band members to see.

On Friday 1 October, 2010 our son's band Clean Slate were the "hosts" as it were for a benefit evening of music with several bands for a fellow band member who had fallen into some hard times.

The music was good, the crowd enjoyed the bands that were all there playing at no cost to help out a fellow musician.

I was asked to photograph the evening. Not having ever photographed a band before and, not being that comfortable with the people shots thought well this would allow me to step outside that comfort zone once again and try to do something different.

I read up on photographing rock concerts noting that manual mode, a fast lens, bump the ISO up as high as it would go, and trying to get a shutter speed that would not cause alot of blur was hard to say the least. These bands were all fast! They moved quick and the lighting of course was mainly just what they had for the venue.

Still I am pleased with how some of these ones have turned out...I think I have trashed about 60 photos from the over 200 I took for youngest son. These are no where near the quality of my flickr friend Jane's concert photos but to me, she is the concert master of all my fiends here, but still, as I said I am pleased none-the-less.

Thanks Clean Slate, Setting the Standard, Some Assembly Required, Weapons Against Evil and Transit 14 for the opportunity to photograph you all, Thanks to oldest daughter who grabbed my camera when her brother was in the spot light and managed to get some great shots and thanks to those bands who entertained not only the "young" crowd there but also, GP and I.

I just did a huge cleaning job of the upstairs. Got rid of 75% of the books, and a bunch of other stuff. This is the result.

What still needs to be done: ugly carpet removed, walls painted, new overhead light fixture.

I think the artwork over the head of the bed needs to change, too.

One of the cool parts of my (not quite) sunrise photowalk around Santiago de Compostela was seeign this guy power washing the steps outside the main plaza of the Cathedral. The old city part of Santiago (only part I was in) is very clean and this has to be part of it I would assume. I was excited when I shot this because I hoped I got the cloud of spray and the negative didn't dissapoint. I also like the old woman in the background.

We can certainly use all as many volunteers as possible of all ages and abilities and we look forward to the possibility of working with you! We are all aware of the importance the health of the Chesapeake Bay hold to all Maryland Residents. Please help clean up the historic shoreline of Bear Creek and Charlesmont Park where both the British and American set up defensive positions during the War of 1812, Battle of North Point. The British also used this location to evacuate their wounded and POW’s. Charlesmont Park was also the location were the Veterans of the War of 1812 celebrated Defender’s Day for over 75 years! This event will be run in conjunction with American Rivers, Trash Free Maryland, National Public Lands Day and the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay as part of annual Project Clean Stream Event.

Please join us on April 21, 2018 as we cleanup this historic shoreline. Registration will be located at the intersection of Park Haven and Gray Haven Road (Near Bear Creek Elementary School), Dundalk, MD 21222. Looks for the registration tents and the “Clean Bread and Cheese Creek Banners. Registration will open at 8:00 am, and the cleanup will run from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We welcome every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we need people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to help at registration, setup food and snacks as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. We will provide lunch and snacks as well as gloves. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but suggest bringing your own if you have them

Volunteers are also needed to arrive early and stay late for setup and break down. Photographers and Videographers also needed!

At the end of the day the fire has to be cleaned, ashpan and the smokebox emptied before the loco can go into the shed for the night. Earl's grate was covered with a layer of clinker which had to be broken up before it cooled and stuck to the firebars.

The Cleaning Lady

...The black cat raised itself and jumped onto the cart. As the cleaning woman went towards the door, her enormous buttocks moved in a joyful left-right left-right rhythm. Humming “twinkle twinkle little star” as she was closing the door, she stood in profile for a moment facing the window. She appeared luminous, her blue black skin retaining a liquid silvery sheen from the moonlight. “Like a diamond in the sky…” she continued to hum as she closed the door.

Limpiando la casita de Bilbo

A couple of months ago I went to Lincoln and had the opportunity to look round the Cathedral. A beautiful building. kept wonderfully immaculate. Its not often we see the maintenance side of these old heritage buildings and it struck me what a mammoth task a bit of simple cleaning could be.

accidents happen. I'm really don't remember how this one happened. I could blame the red wine, but I'm not really into scapegoating. Sometimes, cleaning just makes one tired and it's nice to enjoy the fruit of one's labour.
