BR Blue Class 10, 10119 (D4067) is seen outside Loughborough (Great Central Railway) Locomotive Shed on 7th September 2013.

10119 "Margaret Ethel-Thomas Alfred Naylor" seen on the shed at Loughborough alongside D8098. Two Darlington built locos together in preservation!

The nearside driving position of BR Class 10 diesel shunter D4067 - the controls are duplicated on the other side.

The following is added more as a reminder to myself!!

To start : switch 2 contact breakers up, one each side outside in boxes, then with starter switch (not seen here - detachable handle kept in cupboard) in "start-up" position manually pump - lever behind camera, gauge top right - oil pressure up to 20-25psi & when engine started switch to "Run".

To move: depress deadman's foot pedal, shift lever to desired direction of travel, pull power controller slowly to left until a click is heard & loco will move slowly away, notch up to move faster (although max speed is 20mph!). If lever pulled too quickly into higher position & no click is heard the loco will not move.

Oh and before you do any of this you have to transfer the fuel from the main tank to the smaller service tank by manually pumping it using the red lever.

Another view at Loughborough shows how exciting the locomotive collection on the Great Central Railway is. The sole steam example in this picture is (far left) BR Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 92214 with Class 45 D123 in front. Class 31 D5830 is seen in rare 'Golden Ochre' livery with Class 20 D8098, Class 08 13101 and Class 10 10119.

Like the rest of the Class 10s, D4067 was withdrawn before it got renumbered, so I suppose 10119 denotes the 119th Class 10. It is pictured in the yard at Loughbough, on the Great Central Railway, on October 6th 2012.

The 3 kV DC Class 10E electric locomotives were designed by Toshiba of Japan and were built by Union Carriage and Wagon (UCW) in Nigel, Gauteng. Initially, fifty locomotives were delivered by UCW in 1985 and 1986. 10.038 is in this batch.

Another fifty locomotives were delivered by UCW between 1987 and 1989, These 3 kV DC electric locomotives were designed by the General Electric Company (GEC) and became Class 10E1, Series 1. 10.091 is in this batch.

I have a great fondness for shunters and there are probably no two finer examples in preservation than this pair at Loughborough, Class 08 13101 (later D3101) and Class 10 10119 (D4067) 'Margaret Ethel - Thomas Alfred Naylor'.

I bought this ground Orange 3 channel receiver also because it was cheap. I had no idea how small it was (the SD card is there for scale). I’m yet to test this on any of my RC cars.

The D7000 works nice and new button setup are good improvement. U1 and U2 are needed features and 14bit at 6fps works great. Unlike the D300s 14bit at 3fps.

Although a CF slot would be better than SD. Class10 not as good as CF 600x write speed. And with the extra MP its even slower to write. White Balance almost always spot on and better than the D300s.

As i started to lose interest in the railway i stopped making record of times, dates and locations of photos so the best i can give on this is it was took in the late 80's or early 90s

Loughborough is the home of class 10 D4067 12/09/10. D4067 was built at Darlington in 1961 and like the rest of the class 10s, it spent its life with British Railways in South Yorkshire. Being non-standard, it was withdrawn as surplus after less than ten years service, and sold to the National Coal Board, who sent it to Betteshanger Colliery, Kent in March 1971. The NCB transferred it via Doncaster Works to Nailstone Colliery, near Coalville in early 1976 and it was withdrawn from there in March 1979. It was transferred to Loughborough on the 5th February 1980.

My own working life included Betteshanger Colliery in 1975 and also Bagworth Colliery near Coalville l feel a personal link to this particular locomotive.
